Wooden Lights: How to Choose Teak, Walnut and Oak Lighting for Your Home

Wooden lights for Indian homes: real teak, walnut, oak and birch ply under warm 3000K light. Which wooden pendant, wall light, lamp or chandelier suits each room, and how to care for wood.

Wooden lights make a room feel warm before you even switch them on. Switch them on and the grain comes alive. The best wooden lights for an Indian home use real solid wood, a warm 3000K bulb or LED, and a 304-grade stainless steel frame that never rusts. Pick the shape for the room, and let the wood do the rest.

This teak grew for decades before it reached our bench. That walnut took years to build its dark grain. A craftsman in our Greater Noida factory reads that grain, turns it, sands it and oils it by hand. Then light passes over it and the whole room softens. Here is how to choose the right wooden light, one room at a time.

Key takeaways

  • Real wood only. Teak, walnut, oak and birch ply, cut and turned by hand. Never a print or a “wood-look” finish.
  • Warm light suits wood. A 3000K warm-white LED makes grain glow. Cool white makes it look grey and flat.
  • Match the shape to the job. Pendants over tables, wall lights in passages and beside beds, a wooden lamp on a console, a chandelier in the hall.
  • Keep wood dry. Our wooden lights are indoor lights (IP20). They belong in dry rooms, not in a shower or on an open balcony.

Why do wooden lights feel so warm?

Wood is a living material. It grew in the earth, ring by ring, one season at a time. No two pieces have the same grain, so no two lights look exactly the same.

Light changes what you see in it. Under a warm glow, the grain darkens at the edges and turns golden in the middle. Metal and glass reflect light back at you. Wood holds it and gives it back softly. That is why a room with wooden lights feels calm in the evening, not bright and busy.

Here’s the thing. You don’t need a lot of wood to feel it. One wooden pendant over the dining table, or a pair of wooden wall lights beside the bed, changes the whole mood of a room.

Teak, walnut, oak or birch: which wood is it?

Every wood behaves a little differently under light. This table shows what we use and where it looks best.

Wooden pendant lights and wooden lamp shades

A pendant is where wood shows off most. The shade sits at eye level over a table, so you see the grain every day.

Our layered wood pendant light stacks three flared tiers of walnut and oak. Warm light falls on the table, with soft rings of glow between the layers. It is 33 cm across, for a dining table or kitchen island.

For a smaller table or a bedside, the turned wood pendant light is hand-turned from solid wood, shaped like a spinning top, 23 cm across. The wood cone pendant light pairs a turned teak cone with an opal borosilicate glass globe for low-glare light.

Like a lighter look? The slatted wooden hanging light has a teardrop of birch-ply ribs. Light slips between the slats and paints soft stripes on the wall.

All these wooden lamp shades take a bulb holder. The bulb is not included, so fit a 3000K warm-white LED. Our pendants hang on 1.5 m as standard, and your electrician shortens it to the height you need. See every shape in our hanging lights range.

Wooden wall lights for halls, bedsides and passages

Wooden wall lights are the easy way to bring wood into a room without changing the ceiling. They wash the wall with a warm glow, so a hallway feels wider and a bedroom feels calmer.

Three teak wood bowl wall lights glowing warm at different heights along a hallway wall

The teak wood wall light is a solid teak bowl, turned on a lathe until the rings show. A round glass ball sits in the middle. Switch it on and the light spreads across the ringed wood in an amber glow. It is 27 cm across and 11 cm deep. Hang three at different heights down a passage and they read like art.

Want a built-in LED? The fluted wood wall light has a turned wood arm and an opal borosilicate glass dome, with an integrated 3000K LED. That LED carries a 1-year warranty. For a bold accent wall, the round wooden wall light is a 51 cm carved solid-wood disc on a matte black 304 stainless steel backplate, with a warm halo behind it.

Fit wall lights about 165–180 cm from the floor in a hall, and at eye level when you sit up in bed. More ideas are in our wall lights collection.

A wooden lamp for the bedside or console

A wooden lamp is the smallest step into wood, and often the most loved. It sits close to you, so you notice the grain every night.

Wooden table lamp with a dark turned-wood base and cream linen shade glowing on a wooden chest

The wooden bedside lamp has a solid turned-wood base and a 32 cm cream linen shade. It stands 50 cm tall, right for a bedside table or a study desk.

For a console or an entry hall, the tripod table lamp sets a dark teak amphora on a stainless steel tripod under a raw silk shade. It is 67 cm tall. If you love carving, the spiral table lamp has a barley-twist column carved by hand from solid wood.

Every lamp here takes an E27 bulb, not included. Fit a 3000K warm-white LED. See the full wooden table lamp range, or all our table lamps.

Wooden chandeliers for the dining and living room

A wooden chandelier gives a big room warmth without the shine of crystal. It suits homes with wooden furniture, earthy walls or a Japandi style.

Our wood chandelier sets four leather-clad shades on an oak bar. The mid century modern chandelier turns a teak hub by hand and adds four curved brass-finish stainless steel arms. For a larger hall, the walnut chandelier rings eight pleated raw silk shades around a solid walnut column, 87 cm wide.

Hang a chandelier 75–90 cm above a dining table. In a walkway, keep at least 210 cm (about 7 ft) clear below it. Browse every style in our chandeliers range.

Will wood crack, fade or get hot near a bulb?

Mostly no, if you treat it like good furniture.

  • Heat: an LED bulb runs far cooler than an old filament bulb. Use a 3000K LED and the wood near it stays safe.
  • Water: keep wooden lights in dry rooms. They are rated IP20, for indoor use only.
  • Sun: strong direct sun can lighten any wood over the years. A wall or ceiling out of the afternoon sun keeps the colour rich.
  • Cleaning: dust with a soft dry cloth. Skip water and spray polish.

The frame underneath is 304-grade stainless steel. It comes with a lifetime warranty against rust on orders from 4 October 2026. And if a shade or a part ever needs replacing, we keep spares for 10+ years.

Wood, warm light and Vastu

Vastu looks at how a space, its elements and its light shape the way we live in it. Natural materials connect a room to the earth. Warm light brings in the calm of fire. Open space lets the room breathe.

Wooden lights sit naturally inside that thinking. A solid wood shade and a warm 3000K glow make a room feel grounded. We don’t promise luck. We believe a room with real materials and warm light simply feels better to come home to.

We have made lights in our own Greater Noida factory since 2015. Nothing is imported or resold. That means:

Frequently asked questions

Are your wooden lights made of real wood?

Yes. We use real teak, walnut, oak and birch ply, cut, turned and finished by hand. We never use a print or coating made to look like wood.

Which wooden lamp is best for a bedside table?

A lamp around 50 cm tall with a fabric shade works best beside most beds. Our wooden bedside lamp is 50 cm tall with a 32 cm linen shade, and takes a 3000K warm-white LED (bulb not included).

Can I use wooden wall lights in a bathroom or outdoors?

No. Our wooden lights are indoor lights rated IP20, made for dry rooms. For a bathroom or an outdoor wall, choose an IP65 light instead.

Are wooden lamp shades safe with a bulb inside?

Yes, with an LED bulb. LEDs run much cooler than old filament bulbs. Fit a 3000K warm-white LED in every holder.

Are wooden lights dimmable?

No. None of our lights are dimmable. For softer light, choose a lower-wattage 3000K LED or add a second, smaller light in the room.
