Alabaster Bowl Wall Light – Black Uplight Sconce, 22 cm

Switch it on and the light climbs your wall. This alabaster bowl wall light is an open bowl of natural alabaster, held on a slim stem in a matte black finish over a rectangular backplate. The bulb sits inside the bowl. Light washes up the wall above, and the stone glows warm around it.

It is 22 cm tall and the bowl is 16 cm wide. Small enough for a bedside or a narrow passage, and calm enough to use as a pair or a run.

Why a bowl of alabaster glows from inside

Alabaster is stone formed beneath the earth. It is soft enough to shape and thin enough to let light through.

Our craftsman reads each block before he cuts it. Then he shapes and hollows the bowl by hand, thins the wall so light can pass, and polishes the rim smooth. He leaves the veins alone. Off, the bowl is milky white with soft grey-gold veining. On, the veins come up through the stone like clouds. So no two bowls are the same. Order a pair and you get siblings, not twins.

The stem, arm and rectangular backplate are 304-grade stainless steel in a matte black finish. The black outline against white stone gives it a crisp, modern shape. That steel carries a lifetime warranty against rusting on orders from 4 October 2026.

Why an uplight wall sconce feels softer

Because the light goes up, it bounces off the wall and ceiling instead of shining into your eyes. The room feels brighter and calmer at the same time. Leave about 50 cm of clear wall above the sconce so the wash of light has room to spread.

Light and fitting

It takes one standard E27 bulb, not included. Fit a 3000K warm-white LED bulb; that warm light suits the stone best. You get a wash of ambient light up the wall and a gentle glow through the stone. For more light, choose a brighter 3000K warm-white LED bulb.

It is not dimmable. With a 3000K bulb it gives a fixed warm light.

It is hardwired at 220–240V and rated IP20, for indoor, dry rooms only. Keep it away from showers, wet areas and outdoors. Any licensed electrician fits it in 20–30 minutes, and we guide you on a free video call if you want help.

To clean it, wipe the stone with a soft dry cloth. Avoid water and harsh cleaners.
