Alabaster Sculptural Wall Light – Chignon Swirl Sconce, 17.2 cm

This sculptural wall light is carved from one block of real alabaster. The stone turns in a soft chignon swirl, 17.2 cm across, and sits just 10.2 cm off the wall. No ceiling work, no floor space. Just a wall worth looking at after dark.

Real alabaster, carved by hand

Alabaster is stone formed beneath the earth. It is soft enough to carve and fine enough to let light through.

Our craftsman in Greater Noida reads the block before he cuts. He follows the veins instead of fighting them, then shapes the swirl one curve at a time and hones the surface smooth. That is why no two pieces match.

The veins run differently. The colour shifts. The edges darken where the stone is denser. Light it up and you get a glow that belongs to your piece and nothing else. One block of stone. One light. Never repeated.

The solid stone diffuses the bulb completely. No hot spots, no visible filament. Light also slips out around the edge, so the wall behind it glows too.

Where this alabaster swirl wall light fits

Beside the bed is its best spot. Mount it at 140–150 cm from the floor, next to the headboard, and it can take the place of a bedside lamp and clear your nightstand.

It also works on a hallway feature wall, in a drawing-room alcove or arched niche, beside a console or mirror, on a staircase wall, or in a pooja corner. For a hallway or living-room feature, mount it at 180–200 cm.

It is soft ambient light, not a reading light. Think of it as a feature that changes how the whole wall feels at night.

Light and fitting

Behind the stone sits a backplate in 304-grade stainless steel with a gold finish. It carries a lifetime warranty against rusting on orders from 4 October 2026 (see our Legal Policies, 4.1A).

It takes one E14 bulb, up to 40 W. The bulb is not included. Fit a 4–6 W, 3000K warm-white LED: it keeps the stone cool to the touch and gives the amber glow you see in the photos.

This light is not dimmable. It runs on 220–240 V and is rated IP20, so it is made for dry indoor rooms. Near a bathroom mirror, keep it clear of water splashes.

Any licensed electrician fits it in 20–30 minutes: two screws into the wall, connect the wiring, done. We also give free video-call support while you install.
