About Bedroom Lights and Lighting
Bedroom lights should help the day slow down. So light the room in layers, not from one bright bulb in the middle. A soft light overhead. A warm light beside the bed. One small glow for mood. Here's the simple rule. Fix a bedside wall light about 60 cm above the top of the mattress. Hang a bedside pendant 50–60 cm above the side table. Keep a ceiling light at least 213 cm (7 ft) clear of the floor. On a 9–10 ft ceiling, pick a semi-flush piece. Most of these lights for bedroom walls and ceilings begin as real material. Alabaster is stone formed beneath the earth. Our craftsman reads its veins before he carves. Switch it on and the stone glows from inside. Which lights are best for a bedroom?
Use three layers: a soft ceiling light, a warm light beside the bed and one small light for mood. Keep each one 3000K warm white, on its own switch. In the evening, switch the layers on and off to set the mood.
How high should bedside lights be?
Fix a bedside wall light about 60 cm above the top of the mattress. Hang a bedside pendant so its bottom sits 50–60 cm above the side table. The light then falls on your book, not in your eyes.
Can I hang a chandelier in a bedroom with a low ceiling?
Yes, if it is semi-flush. Keep at least 7 ft (213 cm) clear from the floor to the bottom of the light. On a 9–10 ft ceiling, pick a low piece that sits close to the ceiling.
What are the best decorative lights for bedroom walls?
Stone wall lights. Real alabaster or travertine glows from inside and lights the wall, not your eyes. A matched pair beside the bed looks calm and frees both side tables.
