Overview
A column of real travertine, a small ball in a brass finish and a soft white dome of opal glass. This designer table lamp stands 43 cm tall. The dome is 25 cm across and 13 cm high, and the stone column is 10 cm wide. Three simple shapes, stacked one on the other.
Switch it on and the dome glows an even, milky white, while warm light falls onto the table below it.
Travertine, brass and glass, each shaped by hand
Travertine is stone that formed slowly from mineral-rich water, one thin layer over another, across thousands of years. You can see those layers as fine bands running round the column.
Our craftsman turns each column from a solid block and hones it smooth by hand. He leaves the natural pits open instead of filling them, so every designer table lamp carries its own pattern of stone.
The dome is opal borosilicate glass, melted from silica sand, boric oxide, soda ash and alumina, with white added while the glass is made. That is what turns the bulb into a soft, even glow with no hot spot. Small brass-finish clips hold it at the rim.
Between stone and glass sits a ball of 304-grade stainless steel in a brushed brass finish. It catches the light from the dome and ties the two materials together.
Where this designer table lamp works
- Living room side table. Beside the sofa, it gives a warm pool of light for the evening without the glare of a ceiling light.
- Bedside. At 43 cm, it sits at the right height next to a bed, and the dome keeps the bulb out of your eyes.
- Sideboard or console. Next to a vase or a bowl, it lights a dining room or an entrance from low down.
- Study desk. On a wooden desk, it gives a calm, warm light to read or write by.
It suits stone, oak and walnut, linen, limewash and deep wall colours like olive green or terracotta. Use one on its own or a pair either side of a bed or a sideboard.
Light and fitting
This designer table lamp takes an E27 bulb. The bulb is not included. Fit a 3000K warm-white E27 LED for the glow you see in the photos.
It is not dimmable. It gives one steady warm light, so choose your bulb for the mood you want. It runs on 220–240V.
The brass-finish parts are 304-grade stainless steel, so they will never rust. You get a lifetime warranty against rusting on the steel. Spare parts, including the glass dome, stay available for 10+ years.
