Double Wall Light – Clear Glass Honeycomb Cage and Opal Globe, 39 cm

Some lights only work when they are on. This double wall light earns a second look even when it is off.

It is a two-light sconce, 39 cm tall. Above the arm, a tall clear borosilicate glass cylinder holds a honeycomb cage in an antique brass finish. Below it, a clear glass bell holds a soft opal globe. Two lights, two moods, one wall.

Glass, steel and what the light does with them

Borosilicate glass starts as sand. Silica sand, boric oxide, soda ash and alumina are melted together until the glass runs crystal-clear. Then it is shaped into a tall cylinder for the top and a bell for the bottom.

Inside the top shade sits a sleeve of 304-grade stainless steel. It is cut with hundreds of small hexagons and finished in antique brass. Inside the bell sits a globe of opal borosilicate glass. It is the same glass, with white added while it was made.

Switch it on and the two halves do different jobs. The honeycomb breaks the bulb into a warm grid of light and shadow on your wall. The opal globe below glows evenly, with no glare and no hot spot. Switched off, the clear glass catches daylight. The brass-finish cage sits behind it like a small piece of geometry.

Where a double wall light works best

Bedroom. Fix a pair on either side of the headboard, centred 140–150 cm from the floor. The opal globe is soft enough for reading. The bedside table stays clear.

Living room. Mount it at 170–180 cm on a painted or textured wall, so the honeycomb pattern spreads across it. Use a pair to frame a mirror, or one alone on a wide wall.

Hallway or entrance. Space sconces about 180 cm apart along a corridor. The glass keeps a narrow passage feeling open in the day. After dark, the cage gives it depth.

It suits modern, industrial, art-deco, transitional and mid-century rooms. It looks best on charcoal, navy, sage, warm white or taupe walls, next to dark timber. On a heavily carved or gilded traditional wall, the industrial cage can clash.

Light, bulbs and fitting

The arm, backplate and fittings are 304-grade stainless steel in a matte black finish. The honeycomb cage is 304-grade stainless steel in an antique brass finish. Steel like this does not rust. Orders from 4 October 2026 carry a lifetime warranty against rusting on every stainless steel part.

It takes two bulbs, both not included. An E27 goes in the top shade and a G9 in the bottom globe. Fit a 3000K warm-white LED in each. The light is not dimmable. It runs on 220–240 V and is IP20, so it is for indoor walls only.

It is hardwired to the wall. Any licensed electrician fits it in 20–30 minutes, and we give free video-call support while they do. Leave at least 15 cm of clear wall on either side.
