Round Wall Sconce in Alabaster – Opal Globe Centre, 27 cm

A round wall sconce in real alabaster, with an opal borosilicate glass globe at its centre. Switch it on and the 27 cm stone dish glows warm from the middle out. Every vein shows.

It is a shallow, hollowed dish of white alabaster, about 26.6 cm across, with grey and honey veins running through it. A short alabaster collar holds it off a round brass-finish backplate. It stands just 14.5 cm off the wall, so it fits beside a bed or in a narrow hall.

Alabaster: stone that glows from inside

Alabaster is stone formed beneath the earth. Ours is Egyptian alabaster, and it belongs to the Stone family we build most of our lights around.

Our craftsman in Greater Noida reads each block before he cuts it. He hollows the dish by hand, rounds the rim, and polishes the face. The veins are left alone. So no two sconces look the same.

At the switch, the light does two things. The opal globe throws a warm circle into the dish. The stone rim and collar glow soft amber, and a gentle halo spreads on the wall behind. The bulb itself stays hidden inside the opal glass.

The globe is opal borosilicate glass. It is clear borosilicate glass, melted from silica sand, boric oxide, soda ash and alumina, with white colour added while it is made. That is why it softens the light instead of showing a bright point.

Where a round wall sconce works best

The classic spot is beside the bed. Mount one each side of the headboard at 140–150 cm from the floor, and you get a calm, hotel-suite look on a plain wall. See more bedroom wall lights.

It also works beside a bathroom mirror at eye level, about 160–165 cm, outside the splash zones. Many families like the warm stone in a pooja corner too.

A wall light frees your bedside table: no lamp base, no cord trailing to a socket. Use it as the main light in a small room, or layer it with a ceiling pendant in a bigger one.

It suits modern minimalist, Japandi, contemporary and Art Deco rooms. It sits well with a linen headboard, natural plaster walls, teak furniture and rattan. Skip it in very ornate classical rooms, or on high-gloss tiles that are hard to drill.

Light, steel and fitting

The round backplate is 304-grade stainless steel with a brass finish. It adds a warm metal accent without competing with the stone. Steel like this does not rust, and we back it with a lifetime warranty against rusting on orders from 4 October 2026.

Inside the globe sits a G9 holder. The bulb is not included. Fit a 2.5–4 W, 3000K warm-white LED capsule: enough for bedside reading, and soft through the stone.

It runs on 220–240 V. It is not dimmable; it gives a fixed warm light. It is rated IP20, for indoor rooms. It fixes to the wall on its backplate, so there is no ceiling work.
