Stone Bead Wall Light – 18″ Stacked Alabaster Sconce | Jagmag Lights

This stone bead wall light threads three 50 mm stone beads down a brass spine and finishes with a 127 mm alabaster bell shade. Each bead is a different stone — grey above the backplate, white alabaster below it, then dark green — so the column reads as a row of samples rather than a repeated motif. 457 mm tall on a 152 mm round brass plate.

Where it fits

This is a narrow vertical sconce, 127 mm at its widest. It suits walls where a wide fitting would crowd the space.

• Either side of a bed: Mounted at roughly 150 cm it clears the headboard and drops light onto the nightstand without a lamp taking up surface.
• Flanking a fireplace or a doorway: A pair reads as deliberate architecture rather than added lighting.
• Up a staircase wall: One per landing at matched heights. The bell shade throws light down onto the treads.
• In a narrow hallway: Shallow projection means it will not catch shoulders in a tight corridor.

Why you will use it every day

Three beads, three different stones. That is the whole idea and it is harder to do than it looks.

Most stacked sconces use one material repeated, which reads as a pattern. This stone bead wall light puts a cool grey stone, a warm white alabaster and a dark green stone in sequence, so your eye moves down the column instead of skimming it. The grey bead sits above the backplate rather than below — a small inversion that makes the fixture symmetrical around the plate instead of hanging off the bottom of it.

Hand-cut from natural alabaster — which means no two are alike. The veins run differently. The colour shifts. The edges darken where the stone is denser. Light it up and you get a glow that belongs to your piece and nothing else. One block of stone. One light. Never repeated.

Only the bell shade is lit. The three beads are solid and stay opaque, so switched on you get a bright bell with three dark markers above it, and the brass spine reads as a line connecting them. Switched off it is a piece of stacked stone on the wall.

The ribbed brass cone between the last bead and the shade is worth a look. It is turned with fine horizontal grooves that catch light differently from the smooth backplate, which stops the metalwork reading as one flat finish.

It takes a standard E27 bulb. You pick the wattage, you pick whether it dims, and replacing it in five years costs the price of a bulb rather than the price of the fixture. We suggest a warm-white 6 to 9 W E27 LED at 2700K to 3000K.

Light & finish

The bell is open at the bottom, so the light goes down. At bedside height that gives a readable pool on the nightstand and a soft wash down the wall beneath.

The alabaster bell also glows through its walls, and because the stone is veined rather than uniform the glow is uneven in a way that reads as natural. Grey veins show as darker lines when it is lit.

Bulb choice matters. Warm 2700K pushes the alabaster towards cream and the green bead towards olive. Neutral 3000K keeps the white bead white and the grey bead genuinely grey. Anything cooler than 4000K makes the whole stack look washed out.

The brass is antique-finished with visible turning marks on the backplate. It is meant to darken with handling rather than stay bright.
