Overview
The book is open, the room is quiet, and you want just enough light on the page. This gooseneck wall sconce gives you that. Two opal borosilicate glass domes curve out on slim dark bronze arms and glow a soft, warm white beside your bed.
It stands 40 cm tall and spans 36 cm across, with each dome reaching about 21 cm from the wall. The twin-light version is shown. A single-light version can be ordered too; tell us when you order.
Opal borosilicate glass, shaped to glow
Glass starts in the earth. Ours is borosilicate glass, melted from silica sand, boric oxide, soda ash and alumina. White colour is added while the glass is made, which turns it opal.
Each shade is formed into a soft bell-shaped dome. Our craftsman checks every one for an even wall before it goes on the arm.
Switch it on and the bulb disappears. You see a round, warm glow through the opal glass, with a gentle pool of light falling from the open rim. No glare, no bright point in your eyes.
Where a gooseneck wall sconce works best
The classic spot is beside the headboard. Mount one each side of the bed at 140–150 cm from the floor, and the curved arm brings light to reading height without hanging over the pillow. See more bedroom wall lights.
In a hallway or foyer, one sconce at 180 cm makes a calm accent. See hallway wall lights. On a living room feature wall, a pair at 180–200 cm frames a sofa or a TV unit. See living room wall lights.
It also suits either side of a bathroom mirror, outside the splash zones, where the opal domes keep the light soft on your face. For a shower or wet area, choose an IP65 light from our bathroom wall lights.
The 40 cm height has enough presence on a 9–10 ft wall without crowding it. It sits well with a linen headboard, natural plaster walls, warm teak furniture and rattan. It looks out of place in heavily ornate classical rooms, or on high-gloss lacquered walls where the bronze tone clashes.

Light, steel and fitting
The arms, the column and the round backplate are 304-grade stainless steel in a dark bronze finish, a warm tone closer to aged brass than chrome. Steel like this does not rust. We back it with a lifetime warranty against rusting on orders from 4 October 2026.
Each dome holds an E14 small Edison screw holder, rated up to 40 W. The bulb is not included. Fit a 4–6 W, 3000K warm-white LED: it keeps the glow cosy, runs cool inside the dome, and uses little power. A 40 W filament bulb would run too hot inside the glass.
It runs on 220–240 V and is not dimmable; it gives a fixed warm light. It is rated IP20, for indoor rooms. It fixes to the wall on a hardwired backplate, so there is no ceiling drilling.

Vastu
Vastu tradition asks for soft, warm light in the bedroom, and less harsh light from overhead. Wall lights beside the bed do exactly that. A 3000K warm-white glow suits the room where the day slows down.
Vastu writers favour east and north walls for light fittings, and suggest keeping main lights away from the south-west and south-east corners. They also ask for no dark corners, and no glare in your eyes from the bed. The opal domes here keep the light soft and glare-free.
Natural, honest materials are preferred: here, glass made from sand and minerals, on stainless steel. None of this is a promise of luck or health. Vastu is a tradition of arranging a home so it feels right.

FAQ
How high should I mount a gooseneck wall sconce beside the bed?
Mount it 140–150 cm from the floor. That puts the domes at about shoulder height when you sit up in bed, the right angle for reading. In a hallway or on a living room wall, go to 180–200 cm.
What bulb does it use?
Each dome takes an E14 small Edison screw bulb, which is not included. Fit a 4–6 W, 3000K warm-white LED. The holder is rated up to 40 W, but a 40 W filament bulb would run too hot inside the dome.
Is it dimmable?
No. This light is not dimmable. It gives a fixed warm 3000K light.
How far does it stick out from the wall?
About 21 cm. Keep at least 25 cm clear in front beside a bed. In a hallway narrower than 90 cm, check the clearance before you order, because the dome sits at the tip of the arm.
Is the glass real, and will the arm rust?
Yes, the domes are real opal borosilicate glass. The arms, column and backplate are 304-grade stainless steel and will not rust, with a lifetime rust warranty on orders from 4 October 2026.
Can I get it in another finish, or as a single light?
Yes. We make it in our own factory, so a single-light version, a brass or matte black finish, or a custom size takes 15–20 days. Importers take 60–120. Send us your wall size and finish and we will confirm.
How is it installed, and how fast will it reach me?
Any licensed electrician fits it in 20–30 minutes on a hardwired backplate, and we give free video-call support. In stock, it ships within 4 working days; made to order takes 12–15 working days. Spares stay available for 10+ years.
