The day is done. You switch off the big light and the alabaster dome wall light beside your bed takes over. A soft half-moon of stone glows on the wall. That is all the room needs now. Akner is a 35 cm dome of real alabaster, cut as one half-round shade. It sits on a round backplate, with two turned rods hanging below it like a pair of beaded tassels. 350 mm wide, 385 mm tall. One G9 bulb inside, bulb not included.

Why does real alabaster glow like this?

Alabaster is stone formed beneath the earth. It belongs to the stone family, with marble and onyx, but it lets light through.

A craftsman in our Greater Noida factory reads each block before he cuts it. He decides where the veins should sit on the dome, then shapes and polishes the curve by hand. He leaves the natural markings alone.

Switch it on and the stone glows from inside. Soft honey veins show up that you barely saw by day. No two domes are the same, because no two blocks of stone are.

One block of stone. One light. Never repeated.

Where should you put an alabaster dome wall light?

Beside the bed. Mount it at 110–120 cm from floor to centre. The warm light falls forward and down onto your book, not into the eyes of the person next to you. It also frees your bedside table for a glass of water and nothing else.

In a hallway or foyer. Mount it at 150–160 cm. It lights faces and the art on the opposite wall, so the walk to your door feels finished.

On the way to the powder room, or on a feature wall. The pale veined stone holds its own against dark paint, marble or travertine. Keep it on a dry wall; it is an indoor IP20 light.

In a study or reading corner. A pair either side of a console or bookshelf gives even light across the surface.

Near a home mandir. A calm, warm stone glow suits a pooja corner too.

It looks its best in pairs. In a room of at least 9 sq m with a 2.5 m ceiling, leave 10 cm clear each side of the backplate. It sits well with linen, terracotta, sage green, raw wood, warm-white plaster, marble and travertine. We would not pair it with matte-black industrial fittings or cool-blue LED downlights.

Light, fitting and the steel behind the stone

The backplate and the twin turned rods are 304-grade stainless steel with an antique brass finish. It will not rust. You get a lifetime warranty against rusting on orders from 4 October 2026.

Inside is one G9 holder, max 40 W. The bulb is not included; fit a 3–4 W warm-white G9 LED at 3000K. It lights the stone evenly with no bare-bulb hotspot, and keeps the alabaster cool.

Because the shade is stone, not fabric, it handles close-range heat well and its colour does not shift over time. The light is not dimmable. It runs on 220–240 V and is rated IP20 for dry indoor walls.

It is hardwired to a standard wall back-box. Any licensed electrician fits it in 20–30 minutes, and we give free video-call support while they do.
