Japanese Rattan Pendant Light – Handwoven 40 cm Layered Drum, 2 Finishes

This Japanese rattan pendant light is a layered drum, 40 cm wide and 22 cm tall, hand-woven from natural rattan cane. Switch it on and warm light breaks through the weave into soft, dappled patterns across your ceiling. It is made for the dinner that runs past midnight, and the reading corner you keep promising yourself.

You choose the tiers. Japanese Concentric wraps the cane drum between two drums of natural jute rope, edged with a thin gold trim band. Drum Shade sets the same cane drum between two drums of black linen, lined in white inside. Both hang from a 304-grade stainless steel canopy in a matte black finish.

What is a rattan cane pendant made of?

Rattan is a climbing palm that grows in the forest. Its cane is split into thin, flat strips. That makes it part of the fibre family, with jute and linen beside it on this shade.

In our Greater Noida factory, a pair of hands weaves the cane row by row into an open webbing. The jute rope is wound around its ring strand by strand. The linen is stretched and stitched over its frame. Every ring is made by hand, so the weave carries the small changes that tell you a person made it.

Then the light does its work. Warm light passes through the open weave and throws its pattern on the ceiling and walls. In daylight, switched off, the natural cane texture reads like a piece of craft hanging in your room.

Where does a rattan drum pendant work best?

Over a dining table, first of all. Hang one 75–90 cm above the table and the 40 cm drum fills the space without crowding it. At 40 cm, one pendant covers a two-person table well. Cluster two or three for a longer table.

It also suits kitchen islands, living rooms, bedroom alcoves and reading nooks. Our photos show it over home dining tables and in a café. It belongs in rooms from about 10 × 10 ft, with a ceiling of 9 ft or more.

Light, fitting and the steel inside

The canopy and frame are 304-grade stainless steel. The canopy has a matte black finish. Stainless steel does not rust, so we give a lifetime warranty against rusting on the stainless steel parts, on orders from 4 October 2026.

The light hangs on Teflon-coated copper wire, 1.5 m long as standard. Your electrician shortens it at installation to the drop you want.

It takes one E27 bulb, up to 60W. The bulb is not included; fit a 3000K warm-white LED. A 6–8W LED gives the best glow through the cane. This light is not dimmable. It is an IP20 indoor light for dry rooms, running on 220–240V.
