Smoky Glass Pendant Light – Modern 20 cm Opal-Core LED Drum

Some lights shout. This one settles the room. A smoked glass drum pendant light, 20 cm wide, with a glowing opal core inside a ring of smoke-grey glass. Hang it over your dining table, kitchen island or bedside, and the evening gets softer.

The drum is smoked borosilicate glass, 20 cm across and 6 cm tall. Inside sits an 11 cm core of opal borosilicate glass that hides a built-in 3000K warm-white LED. You see a soft white glow wrapped in a grey halo. No bare bulb. No glare at eye level.

What is smoked borosilicate glass?

Glass belongs to the Light family in our work. Borosilicate glass is melted from natural raw ingredients: silica sand, boric oxide, soda ash and alumina. It stays crystal-clear and pure.

For this drum, smoke colour is added while the glass is made, so the grey runs through the glass itself. It is not a film or a paint. The core is the same borosilicate glass with white colour added, which is what makes it opal.

Our team in Greater Noida forms the drum, polishes its rim, and sets the opal core dead centre so the glow sits even. Switch it on and the light passes through two layers. The opal softens it. The smoked glass tones it down to a calm grey-gold ring.

Where does a 20 cm smoked glass pendant light work best?

It is sized for close, personal spaces. Hang it 70–75 cm above a kitchen counter for task light that still feels warm. Hang it 75–90 cm above a dining table for a pool of glow over the plates.

Over a long table, run three in a row, 70–80 cm apart, for tables 180 cm and longer. Two suit a 120–150 cm island. Beside a bed, one on a long drop gives you warm light without the bulk of a table lamp.

It suits rooms 10 ft × 10 ft and above with a ceiling of 9 ft or more. Skip it for ceilings under 8 ft and for heavily ornate classical rooms. It sits well in modern minimalist, Japandi, contemporary, wabi-sabi and monochrome homes, next to a marble island, a dark wood table, linen seating or concrete.

Light, cap and wire: what you get

The light is a built-in LED at 3000K warm white, the colour of late evening sun. There is no bulb to buy or change. The LED module carries a 1-year warranty on orders from 4 October 2026 (Legal Policies 4.1B).

The cap and the 10 cm ceiling canopy are 304-grade stainless steel in a matte black finish. Steel like this does not rust, and we give a lifetime warranty against rusting on orders from 4 October 2026 (Legal Policies 4.1A).

It hangs on a Teflon-coated copper wire with a drop of up to 120 cm, so the light sits at most 135.5 cm below the ceiling. Your electrician sets the final height during fitting. It runs on 220–240V. It is not dimmable; it gives a fixed warm 3000K light. It is IP20, made for dry indoor rooms.
