Honey Alabaster Wall Light – 450 mm Stone Stack Sconce | Jagmag Lights

This alabaster wall sconce stacks four natural stones on one slim rod, and the last one glows. A white alabaster ball sits above a 150 mm round backplate. Below it come brown marble, grey-green stone, a ribbed cone and a honey alabaster cylinder, with the bulb sitting just below. 450 mm from the top of the ball to the bottom of the lamp.

Switch it on in a quiet hallway and the honey stone turns the colour of candlelight. It reads as an object on your wall, not just a light fitting.

Four stones, four colours, none of them repeat

The sequence is the design. White alabaster at the top. Brown marble below the plate. Grey-green stone under that. Then the honey alabaster cylinder.

Each one is a different stone with a different density. So one 450 mm rod shows you four ways stone can look: chalky, veined, matt and translucent.

The small ribbed cone above the cylinder is turned with fine cords. They catch the light differently from everything around them.

Is it real alabaster?

Yes. Alabaster is stone formed beneath the earth, and the marble and green stone are natural stone too. Nothing here is a coating or a print made to look like stone.

Our craftsman reads each block before he cuts it. Where do the veins run? Where does the stone turn darker? He cuts and polishes each piece by hand, so no two lights are alike.

The veins run differently. The colour shifts. The edges darken where the stone is denser. One block of stone. One light. Never repeated.

What the light does with honey alabaster

The honey cylinder is the only translucent piece, and it is the one that lights up. The amber in the stone glows warmer than white alabaster would. Closer to a candle than to daylight.

A dark seam runs through the middle of most pieces, where the stone changes density. When lit, it shows like a line drawn by the earth itself.

The bulb sits below the cylinder, not inside it. That is deliberate. You see the lamp, so light spreads sideways into the room instead of being trapped. Expect a warm pool on the wall above and below, and enough spill to light a corridor on its own.

Unlit, it is a stack of coloured stone on a dark disc. The white ball above the plate is the detail people notice. It breaks the outline and stops the fixture looking bottom-heavy.

Where an alabaster wall sconce works best

This is a slim vertical sconce with a visible bulb. Give it a plain wall to sit against.

• In a hallway or corridor: the narrow profile suits a passage, and the exposed lamp gives the warm point of light a corridor needs.
• Either side of a bed: mounted at around 150 cm, the bare lamp reads as candlelight, not task light.
• Flanking a doorway or an arch: a pair frames an opening the way a pair of sconces should.
• Against lime wash or clay plaster: the honey tone and the dark bronze finish were made for warm, textured walls.

Light and fitting

The backplate, rod and collar are 304-grade stainless steel in a dark bronze finish. Quieter than brass against a warm wall, so the stones carry the colour. The steel comes with a lifetime warranty against rusting on orders from 4 October 2026.

It takes a G9 bulb. The bulb is not included. Fit a 3000K warm-white LED in a frosted or opal globe. The lamp is visible, so a clear bulb will glare. A frosted globe looks like part of the piece.

The honey alabaster already carries amber. A 3000K warm white keeps it golden; anything cooler fights the stone and turns it slightly grey.

It runs on 220–240V and is rated IP20, for indoor, dry rooms. Any licensed electrician fits it in 20–30 minutes, and we help on a free video call if you need it.
