Honey Alabaster Wall Light – 450 mm Stone Stack Sconce | Jagmag Lights

This honey alabaster wall light runs a bronze rod through a 150 mm dark plate and threads four elements onto it — a white alabaster ball above the plate, then brown marble, then green stone, then a ribbed cone, ending in a honey alabaster cylinder with the bulb sitting proud below it. 450 mm from the top of the ball to the bottom of the lamp.

Where it fits

This is a slim vertical sconce with a visible bulb. It reads as an object on the wall rather than a light fitting, so give it a plain surface to sit against.

• In a hallway or corridor: The narrow profile suits a passage, and the exposed lamp gives the warm point of light a corridor needs.
• Either side of a bed: Mounted around 150 cm it sits at a comfortable height and the bare lamp reads as candlelight rather than task light.
• Flanking a doorway or an arch: A pair frames an opening the way a pair of sconces is supposed to.
• Against lime wash or clay plaster: The honey tone and the bronze were made for warm, textured walls.

Why you will use it every day

Four stones, four colours, and none of them repeat.

The sequence is the design. White alabaster at the top, brown marble below the plate, sage green stone under that, then the honey alabaster cylinder. Each one is a different stone with a different density, so this honey alabaster wall light shows four distinct ways stone can look — chalky, veined, matt and translucent — on a single 450 mm rod.

Hand-cut from natural alabaster — which means no two are alike. The veins run differently. The colour shifts. The edges darken where the stone is denser. Light it up and you get a glow that belongs to your piece and nothing else. One block of stone. One light. Never repeated.

The honey cylinder is the only translucent piece, and it is the one that lights up. The amber tone in the stone means it glows warmer than a white alabaster would — closer to candle than to daylight — and a dark seam runs through the middle of most pieces where the stone changes density.

The bulb sits below the cylinder rather than inside it. That is deliberate. You see the lamp, so the fixture reads as a lit object rather than a shaded one, and the light spreads sideways into the room instead of being trapped. Use a frosted globe G9 and it looks like part of the piece; use a clear one and it will glare.

The plate and rod are dark bronze rather than brass — quieter against a warm wall, and it lets the stones carry the colour. The small ribbed cone above the cylinder is turned with fine cords that catch light differently from everything around it.

Light & finish

With the lamp exposed, this throws light in every direction rather than down. Expect a warm pool on the wall above and below, and enough spill to light a corridor on its own.

Bulb choice changes it completely. A frosted or opal globe G9 is what we recommend — it keeps the glare down and matches the softness of the stone. A clear filament bulb will look striking in photographs and uncomfortable to sit beside.

Stay at 2700K to 3000K. The honey alabaster already carries amber in it, and anything cooler fights that and turns the stone slightly grey.

Unlit, it is a stack of coloured stone on a dark disc. The white ball above the plate is the detail people notice — it breaks the outline and stops the fixture reading as bottom-heavy.
