Rattan Sunburst Pendant Light – Open-Rod Woven Shade, 60 cm

Switch it on and the whole room fills with rays. This rattan pendant lamp is built from hundreds of thin natural rattan rods, fanned out like the rays of the sun. They form two wide, stepped rings that flare out from a central cone. The bulb sits inside the cone. Light pours out between the rods and throws long, striped shadows across your ceiling and walls. It is 60 cm (2 ft) across and just 20 cm (8 in) deep. Wide and dramatic, but light and airy to look at.

Real rattan, set and bound by hand

Rattan is a climbing palm that grows in tropical forests. Its stems are strong, light and flexible. That puts it in our fibre family, beside cane, jute and linen.

A craftsman in our Greater Noida factory sets each rod by hand, one beside the next, then binds the rings with thin strips of rattan. You can see that binding wrapped around every ring. Because the material is natural, the rods vary a little in tone and spacing. No two lights are quite the same.

The open rods are what make this light different. A solid shade hides the light. This one lets it out in rays, so the shadow pattern becomes part of the room. The cone hides the bulb from most angles, so the glow feels warm, not glaring.

Where a rattan sunburst pendant works best

• Over a dining table. The 60 cm spread suits a 4–6 seat table and makes a strong focal point. Hang the base about 75–90 cm above the top. Browse more dining room pendant lights.

Light and fitting

It takes one E27 bulb. The bulb is not included; fit a 3000K warm-white LED. An LED stays cool, which is kind to natural fibre. This is atmosphere light with dramatic shadows, not bright task light. For more light, choose a brighter 3000K LED bulb. It is not dimmable.

It hangs from a matte black ceiling canopy. Every metal part we make is 304-grade stainless steel, so the canopy will not rust, with a lifetime warranty against rusting on orders from 4 October 2026. The suspension is 1.5 m as standard, shortened at installation, so you can hang it low over a table or close to the ceiling.

It is a hard-wired ceiling pendant for 220–240V, rated IP20 for indoor dry areas. Keep it away from bathrooms, wet areas and outdoors. Any licensed electrician fits it in 20–30 minutes, and we help free on a video call.
