Faceted Smoked Glass Pendant Light – Loft Drop Form, 40 cm

Picture the last hour of your day. The book is open, the room is quiet, and one warm line of light hangs beside your bed. That is what this faceted smoked glass pendant light brings to a bedroom, a dining table or a kitchen island.

It is a 40 cm drop of smoked borosilicate glass, shaped like a tall carafe. The neck pinches in, the body opens out into flat facets, and both rims are cut on a slant. At its widest it is just 14.5 cm across, so it hangs neatly right beside a bed.

Smoked borosilicate glass with a wood heart

Borosilicate glass begins as natural raw ingredients: silica sand, boric oxide, soda ash and alumina. They are melted into a crystal-clear, pure glass. For this shade, smoke colour is added while the glass is made, so the tint runs right through it.

The glass is then shaped into flat faces, and both rims are cut at an angle. Each face catches the room a little differently. Unlit, the shade reads smoke grey with a soft sheen, almost like a mirror. Switch it on and it warms to amber and gold.

Look inside the neck and you’ll find a sleeve of natural wood holding the bulb. Glass and wood are two honest materials, and they sit well together. Light passes clean through the smoked glass, the wood glows honey-brown, and a soft halo spreads across the wall behind it.

Where a smoked glass pendant light works best

• Beside the bed. Hang one drop 70–80 cm above the nightstand. It replaces a table lamp and frees the whole surface.
• Over a dining table or kitchen island. Run two or three in a row, 60–80 cm apart, with the shades 75–85 cm above the top.
• In a reading nook or study corner. Set the cord so the light falls exactly where you read.
• In the living room. One drop over a side table or accent chair anchors a seating corner without a floor lamp.

It suits modern, loft, mid-century and Japandi rooms, from a compact 10 × 10 ft bedroom upward. It looks right beside natural wood, warm brass tones and plaster or dark painted walls.

Light and fitting

Inside is one E27 holder, rated up to 60 W. The bulb is not included. Fit a 3000K warm-white LED; a slim filament tube looks best through the glass. Skip cool-white bulbs (5000K and up), which fight the amber of the glass. This light is not dimmable. It runs on 220–240 V and is rated IP20, for dry indoor rooms.

The round ceiling canopy is 304-grade stainless steel in an antique brass finish, 10 cm across and 2.5 cm deep. It will not rust, and it carries a lifetime warranty against rusting on orders from 4 October 2026. That warranty covers the steel; the shade is borosilicate glass and the holder sleeve is wood.

The shade hangs on a clear twisted cord that adjusts up to 100 cm. From ceiling to shade tip, that is about 140 cm at most. Your electrician sets the length at installation. Allow a ceiling of at least 8 ft (240 cm) over a dining table, or 7.5 ft for a bedside drop. Keep the shade at least 20 cm from any wall.
