Know your light

The alabaster floor lamp is a freestanding light where mineral does the diffusing — no fabric shade, no glass globe, just natural stone. Two alabaster cylinders, each 450 mm tall and 40 mm wide, sit inside a matte black oval arch that stands 167.5 cm total. The LEDs are integrated directly into the stone at the factory — no bulb to buy, no socket to fit. Each hand-finished piece is made by Jagmag Lights in Greater Noida, India, so the veining and amber tones on your unit are yours alone. Priced at ₹8,900.

Where it fits

  • Drawing room corner: At 167.5 cm this lamp anchors a corner at shoulder height and casts warm light sideways — the atmosphere a ceiling light cannot create.
  • Large bedroom beside the bed: Plugs into any standard socket, no drilling. Warm and diffused — bright enough for a bedside read, soft enough not to wake a partner.
  • Hotel lobby or reception alcove: The oval black arch reads as a design object when switched off and a warm anchor point when lit — two functions in one freestanding piece.
  • Pooja corner or meditation niche: Natural stone has been used in Indian sacred spaces for generations; diffused, even light suits quiet ritual and focused stillness.

Why you’ll use it every day

Overhead lights in Indian living rooms are almost always too harsh for evenings. This lamp gives you a warm corner anchor at 9 pm without running a new wire or calling an electrician — plug it in once and leave it. The alabaster diffuses the LED so there are no bright spots or sharp shadows: good for tired eyes after a long day, good for family time when you want atmosphere rather than brightness.

The LEDs are integrated, so there is no bulb to stock, no fitting to unscrew, and no waiting on a technician. The 305 mm circular base sits flat on wooden, marble, or tiled floors without a mat or wedge. And when guests arrive and the drawing room needs to look considered rather than assembled, this is the single piece that does that work on its own.

Hand-cut from natural alabaster — which means no two are alike. The veins run differently. The colour shifts. The edges darken where the stone is denser. Light it up and you get a glow that belongs to your piece and nothing else. One block of stone. One light. Never repeated.

Light & finish

When switched off, this lamp reads as a sculptural object: a lean black oval arch, 200 mm wide, standing against a plain wall with two pale stone cylinders suspended inside. It works as a statement piece in a corner without needing to be lit.

When switched on, the quality changes. Light passes through natural alabaster — a translucent mineral — and emerges warm and diffused. There are no visible LED points, no glare, no hard shadows. The light sits at low intensity suited to ambient evenings and relaxed conversation. It is not a task light or reading lamp.

The matte black metal frame pairs cleanly with warm-toned interiors: teak furniture, beige or cream walls, terracotta accents, natural fibre rugs, and warm marble floors. The stone itself carries naturally unique veining — each piece has a different pattern of cream, amber, and dark mineral swirls — so no two units look identical.

Vaastu & positive energy

In Vaastu Shastra, natural stone is traditionally associated with earth energy — stability, calm, and a sense of permanence in the space it anchors. Alabaster’s translucent quality, with warm light filtering through rather than projecting sharply, is associated with gentle, measured illumination rather than stimulation.

The oval arch form, with its continuous curve and no sharp angles, is traditionally considered supportive of smooth energy flow through a room. Two light sources placed symmetrically within the same frame are associated in Vaastu with balance and harmony — neither dominant nor absent. Placement in the south-east corner of the living room (traditionally associated with warmth and vitality) or the north-east (traditionally associated with calm and clarity) is generally recommended for warm-light floor lamps. Avoid placing it directly in a traffic path — grounded light settles best when it can stay in one position.

Common questions

How tall should an alabaster floor lamp be for a living room?

For a standard Indian living room with a 9 ft ceiling, a floor lamp between 140 and 180 cm works best — it places the light source near seated eye level. This lamp stands 167.5 cm, which sits comfortably in that range.

Can this alabaster floor lamp replace a ceiling light?

For evening ambient and mood lighting, yes. It diffuses warm light sideways through stone from standing height, creating an atmosphere a ceiling light cannot match. It is not suited for task lighting over a desk or dining table.

What bulb does this floor lamp use?

No bulb — the LEDs are integrated directly into the alabaster stone cylinders at the factory. There is nothing to purchase, fit, or replace during normal use.

Where is this floor lamp made?

Jagmag Lights manufactures it in Greater Noida, India. Each piece is hand-finished in-house and frame spare parts are available for 10+ years after purchase.

Can I customise the height or finish?

Yes — Jagmag manufactures in-house and accepts custom frame colours and heights on request. Lead time is 15–20 working days from order confirmation.

How long does delivery take?

Standard delivery across India takes 7–14 working days. No on-site installation is needed — the lamp plugs into any standard 5-amp socket.
