Overview
Some lights you notice only when they are on. This one you notice all day. The umbrella fabric pendant light opens like a parasol over your bed, your dining table or your desk, with a soft wavy hem and a small wood ball hanging below.
It is a cream linen shade, 40 cm wide and 28 cm tall, bound in warm brown along every seam and the scalloped edge. A lamp holder in an antique brass finish sits on top. A turned wood ball hangs underneath on a slim hoop. That brown outline keeps the umbrella shape crisp, lit or unlit. It is a fabric hanging light with a gentle retro, cottage feel.
Real linen, cut and bound by hand
Linen comes from the flax plant. It is a natural fibre, spun and woven before it reaches our bench. You can see the weave in it, a fine slub that no print can copy.
Our craftsman cuts each panel to the curve of the frame and stretches it tight. Then he stitches the brown binding along every seam and follows the wave of the hem by hand, one scallop at a time. The wood ball is turned on a lathe and left with its own grain.
Switch it on and the whole shade glows a warm cream. The weave shows through. Light spills out under the wavy hem onto the table below, while the brown binding reads like a drawn outline.

Light, fitting and build
Linen is a kind diffuser. It spreads the bulb evenly across the whole shade, so you get a glow, not a hot spot.
It takes one E27 bulb, up to 60 W. The bulb is not included. Fit a 3000K warm-white LED for the softest cream glow through the linen. The light is not dimmable.
The frame inside the shade, the lamp holder and the hoop under it are 304-grade stainless steel. The holder and hoop carry an antique brass finish. They will not rust, and they come with a lifetime warranty against rusting on orders from 4 October 2026.
The pendant hangs on 1.5 m of twisted brown fabric cord as standard, shortened to your drop at installation, from a wood ceiling canopy. It runs on 220–240V and is rated IP20, for indoor use. Keep it away from damp spots such as an open bathroom.
Over a dining table, hang the base 75 to 85 cm above the surface. As a room centre light, keep at least 7 ft of clear headroom below it. It suits rooms from 8 ft × 8 ft and ceilings of 8 ft and above.

Vastu tradition asks for warm, soft light in the rooms where you rest and eat. A 3000K warm-white bulb behind cream linen gives exactly that kind of glow. Natural materials such as linen and wood are also preferred over plastic, and warm tones like cream and beige are favoured in the dining room.
In the bedroom, Vastu advice is to avoid a strong light directly above the bed. Because this shade hides the bulb, the light stays soft and off your face. Many guides still suggest hanging it over the walking space rather than straight over your pillow. In the dining room, a pendant centred over the table and no dark corners are the usual guidance. The west or north-west of the home is often named as the place for dining.
