Overview
Some lights fill a room. This one layers it. The tiered fabric pendant light stacks three ruffled tiers of cream fabric, so warm light slips out between the layers as well as through them.
A small upturned collar sits at the top. A wide flared tier opens below it, and a short gathered skirt hangs underneath. Every wavy edge is finished with a contrast whipstitch. It is 50 cm across and 35 cm tall: big enough to be the main light over a table for four or in a bedroom.
Fabric and steel, stitched by hand
Fabric belongs to our fibre family. Light does not bounce off it. It passes through the cloth and turns soft.
The cream fabric carries a fine printed botanical pattern of branches and blossom. Our craftsman stretches each panel over a 304-grade stainless steel frame, then works a whipstitch along every wavy edge by hand. The stitch holds the ruffle in shape and draws a thin line around each tier, so the outline stays crisp.
Switch it on and the three tiers glow at slightly different strengths: brightest through the lower skirt, softer through the wide middle tier. The botanical print comes forward across the fabric. Switched off, it is a calm cream shape on a twisted brown cord.
Where does a tiered fabric pendant light work best?
- Over a dining table: the 50 cm spread covers a round table for four and throws warm light through three layers of fabric. See our dining room pendant lights.

Light, fitting and the steel inside
It takes one standard E27 bulb, up to 60 W. The bulb is not included; fit a 3000K warm-white LED for the softest glow through the layers. It is not dimmable. It gives a fixed warm light.
The frame inside the fabric is 304-grade stainless steel, and so is the small round ceiling canopy, shown here in a gold finish. Both carry a lifetime warranty against rusting on orders from 4 October 2026. It runs on 220–240V and is rated IP20 for indoor use.
It hangs on a 1.5 m twisted brown fabric cord, shortened at installation, with a dark cap where the cord meets the shade. Over a dining table, hang the base 75 to 85 cm above the top. As a room centre light, keep at least 7 ft of clear headroom below it. It suits rooms from 9 ft × 9 ft and ceilings of 8 ft and above; allow 50 cm of clear width for the shade.

Vastu tradition asks for gentle, warm light in the evening. It prefers a shaded glow over a bare bulb, and it advises against a strong light glaring straight down at the bed. Three tiers of fabric with a 3000K warm-white LED give exactly that kind of soft, diffused light.
For the dining room, Vastu favours the west or north-west of the home and warm, soothing colours such as cream and beige. A warm pendant over the table, cream fabric and natural materials around it fit that idea. Many families also keep the entry well lit and replace a flickering bulb straight away, so no corner is left dark.
