Butterfly Pendant Light – Marbled Borosilicate Glass Wings, Brass Finish, 49 cm | Pink or Blue

Switch it on and the wings start to glow. Grey swirls rise through pink or blue glass, and a soft colour falls on the ceiling around it. This butterfly pendant light hangs over a dining table, a bedroom or a child’s room like a piece of jewellery.

Four marbled glass wings sit on a slim butterfly body, with fine antennae and a teardrop finial below. The wingspan is 49 cm and the total drop is 94 cm. Choose it in a soft blush pink or a pale aqua blue. Both are the same size, on the same brushed brass finish.

Borosilicate glass, coloured while it is made

Each wing is borosilicate glass, melted from silica sand, boric oxide, soda ash and alumina. The pink or blue colour goes in while the glass is made, and the grey veining swirls through it. So every wing is marbled on its own, and no two are the same.

A fine gold edge runs round each wing. Our craftsman sets the four wings into the body by hand, two large above and two small below, and bolts them so they hang true.

The frame, rod, canopy, lamp arms and finial are 304-grade stainless steel in a brushed brass finish. That steel will not rust. It carries a lifetime warranty against rusting on orders from 4 October 2026.

Here’s the thing about the light. The two lamps sit behind the upper wings, not below them. So you see a warm glow through the glass, not a bare bulb in your eyes. Unlit, it reads as a still sculpture of glass and steel.

Where does a butterfly pendant light work best?

Light and fitting

The light takes two G9 bulbs, max 40 W. Bulbs are not included. Fit two 3000K warm-white G9 LEDs of 3–4 W each, which show the marbling best.

It hangs on a fixed rod in 304-grade stainless steel, brushed brass finish, for a 94 cm total drop. Need it longer or shorter? We make a custom rod length in 15–20 days.

Over a dining table, hang the wings 75–85 cm above the top. Elsewhere, keep at least 7 ft of clear headroom below the finial. It is not dimmable. It runs on 220–240V and is rated IP20, for indoor use.
