Overview
Some evenings you want the table to feel calm, not bright. This japanese pendant lamp does that. It is a low, wide dome of raw silk, 40 cm across and 18 cm tall, with a walnut wood cap on top. The silk keeps its natural oatmeal tone, its small slubs and knots. Nothing is smoothed away. Switch it on and warm light passes through the weave and falls in a soft pool on the table below.
What makes a wabi sabi pendant light?
Wabi sabi is the Japanese idea that simple, natural and slightly imperfect things are beautiful. This light follows it closely. Raw silk with an uneven weave. Walnut left in its natural finish, with no varnish or gloss. A plain dome with no decoration.
In daylight it looks like a piece of cloth over wood. At night it glows.
Silk and walnut, shaped by hand
Silk belongs to the fibre family. Raw silk comes from the cocoon, so the thread is thick in some places and thin in others. Our team stretches it over the ringed dome frame by hand and stitches it tight. You can see the rings and seams as soft lines in the silk.
Walnut belongs to the wood family. The cap is turned and sanded, then left alone so the grain shows. Each light comes out a little different. That is the point.
Switch it on and the weave lights up. The silk scatters the bulb into an even glow with no hot spot.
Where it fits
A shallow 40 cm dome belongs over a surface. Hang it 75–90 cm above a dining table and it becomes the quiet centre of the room. One works over a kitchen island, a bedside table, a living room side table or a reading chair. For a long table, hang two or three in a row.

Light and fitting
The light takes one E27 bulb, up to 60W. The bulb is not included. Fit a 6–9W 3000K warm-white LED. It runs cool, so the silk stays safe. The light is not dimmable. It gives a fixed warm glow.
It hangs on a 1.5 m twisted fabric cord, shortened at installation. The round ceiling canopy is 304-grade stainless steel in a brown finish. It will not rust. You get a lifetime warranty against rusting on orders from 4 October 2026. It runs on 220–240V and is rated IP20, for indoor rooms.

Vastu tradition places the dining area in the west or north-west of the home. It asks for natural daylight by day and soft, warm light in the evening. Warm, soothing colours like beige and yellow are preferred over dark, dull ones.
