Globe Hanging Light – Ribbed Coloured Glass Ball, 5 Colours

Five colours of glass. One warm glow over your table. This globe hanging light is a ribbed ball of hand-blown borosilicate glass in blue, pink, brown, gold-lustre or smoked, hung from a slim brushed gold stem. Switch it on and the room takes on the colour you chose.

The globe is 15 cm or 20 cm across, as our dimension drawing shows. Fine ribs run from top to bottom, so the light breaks into soft bands instead of one hard point. Hang one by the bed, or three at different heights over a dining table.

What is this glass, and how is it made?

Borosilicate glass starts as sand. Silica sand, boric oxide, soda ash and alumina are melted together into a glass that is crystal-clear and pure. The colour goes in while the glass is made. Blue, pink, brown, a gold lustre or smoke sits inside the glass itself. It is not painted on.

Each globe is blown by hand, and the ribs are pressed in while the glass is still soft. So no two globes are exactly alike. Look closely and you will see small changes in the ribs and the depth of colour. That is the hand at work, not a flaw.

Then the light does its part. Through blue it feels cool and calm. Through pink, a soft blush. Brown and gold-lustre turn honey-warm. Smoked glass gives a low, moody glow that suits a bedside or a bar corner.

Where does a coloured globe hanging light work best?

Over a dining table, hang it 75–90 cm above the top. The round globe becomes a centrepiece, even with the light off. See more dining room pendant lights.

By the bed, drop it 50–60 cm above the side table and free the table top. Our bedroom pendant lights work the same way. Over a kitchen island, cluster three at 70–75 cm above the counter.

In the living room, one globe lights a reading chair or a dark corner. Mix two colours, or hang all five at staggered heights. You get a playful, chandelier-like group without the weight of a big fitting. It suits rooms where a large shade would feel too much.

Light, holder and the steel that will not rust

The stem, cap and ceiling canopy are 304-grade stainless steel with a brushed gold finish. Steel like this does not rust. We back it with a lifetime warranty against rusting on orders from 4 October 2026. It covers the steel, not the finish.

A black cord carries the globe. It comes 1.5 m long as standard, and your electrician shortens it to the drop you want at installation.

Inside is one E14 holder. The bulb is not included; fit a 3000K warm-white E14 LED. A 4–6 W bulb keeps the colour rich, because a very bright bulb can wash it out. This light is not dimmable. It runs on 220–240 V and is rated IP20, for indoor rooms.
