Know your light

This alabaster beaded pendant light threads two 50 mm stone beads onto a slim brass stem and finishes with a 200 mm alabaster cylinder. A dark brass ball sits at the top of the stem as a counterweight to the stone below. The whole fixture measures 44 cm and hangs from a rigid rod, so it stays exactly where you set it.

Where it fits

At 120 mm wide this is a narrow, vertical light. It suits places where a wide shade would be in the way.

  • Beside a bed: The obvious use. One each side at 75 to 85 cm above the mattress clears the nightstand completely and puts light where you read.
  • Over a narrow console or hallway table: The 12 cm shade will not crowd a shallow surface.
  • Flanking a bathroom mirror: Two hung either side give even light on the face, which a single overhead fitting never does.
  • In a row over a breakfast counter: Three at 70 cm spacing reads as a rhythm rather than a cluster.

Why you will use it every day

Two beads and a cylinder. That is the whole design, and the restraint is what makes it work.

The proportions are deliberate — a 4 cm brass ball, a 10 cm brass stem, two 5 cm alabaster beads, then a 20 cm shade. Each element is roughly half the one below it, which is why this alabaster beaded pendant light reads as considered rather than assembled. Copy the same idea with equal-sized parts and it looks like a stack of nothing.

Hand-cut from natural alabaster — which means no two are alike. The veins run differently. The colour shifts. The edges darken where the stone is denser. Light it up and you get a glow that belongs to your piece and nothing else. One block of stone. One light. Never repeated.

The beads are solid stone and do not light up. Only the cylinder is hollow and lit, so you get a clear separation: two opaque markers, then a lantern. Unlit, the beads and the shade are the same cream tone and the fixture reads as one object.

It takes a standard E27 bulb, which most people will treat as a feature rather than a compromise. You choose the wattage, you choose whether it dims, and in five years you buy a ₹200 bulb instead of writing off the fitting. We suggest a warm-white 6 to 9 W E27 LED at 2700K to 3000K.

We make this alabaster beaded pendant light in our own Greater Noida factory and hold spare parts for 10 years and more, which on hand-cut stone is the difference between a repair and a replacement.

Light & finish

The cylinder is open at the bottom, so the light does two jobs. The stone walls glow and show their veining, and the open base drops a defined circle of light onto whatever sits below.

Bulb choice changes the character more than on most fixtures. A warm 2700K bulb pushes the stone amber and suits a bedroom. A neutral 3000K keeps it closer to cream and suits a hallway or a bathroom. Anything cooler than 4000K fights the natural warmth of alabaster and is worth avoiding.

The metalwork is antique brass — the top ball reads almost bronze, the stem and the collar under the beads are brighter. That contrast is intentional and it will settle further as the finish ages.

Unlit, this is a pale sculptural object against the wall. It works against warm plaster, lime wash, olive and clay paint, and it does not need a dark backdrop to register.

Vaastu & positive energy

Natural stone is treated as a settling, grounding material, and alabaster is the gentlest of them.

An alabaster beaded pendant light is most often hung at a bedside, and a warm low-glare light is what Vaastu favours in a room meant for rest. Cool white overhead light in a bedroom is the thing usually advised against.

Every element here is rounded — spheres, beads, a softened cylinder. Rounded shapes above sleeping and seating positions are the ones traditionally preferred, and there is no sharp edge anywhere on this fixture.

Common questions

How big is the alabaster beaded pendant light?

The fixture is 44 cm tall in total — a 4 cm brass ball, a 10 cm stem, two 5 cm alabaster beads and a 20 cm cylinder shade. The shade is 12 cm across. The brass rod above it is cut to your ceiling height.

Does it come with a bulb?

No. This one takes a standard E27 screw bulb, which is not included. We recommend a warm-white E27 LED between 6 W and 9 W at 2700K to 3000K.

Is it sold as a single pendant or a pair?

Single. The price is per piece. Most people order two for either side of a bed, so tell us the quantity you need and we ship them together.

Can the drop be adjusted?

Yes. It hangs on a rigid brass rod rather than a cord, so it holds its position and does not swing. Send us your ceiling height and we cut the rod before dispatch, or your electrician can shorten it on site.

Do the beads light up?

No. The two beads are solid alabaster and stay opaque. Only the cylinder shade is hollow and lit — that contrast between solid stone and glowing stone is the point of the design.

Will every alabaster beaded pendant light look the same?

No. The beads and the shade are cut from natural stone, so veining and tone differ from piece to piece. A pair either side of a bed will look related, not identical.

Can I get it in a different size or finish?

Yes. We manufacture in-house, so the shade length, bead count, rod length and metal finish can all change. Custom runs take 15 to 20 days against 60 to 120 days for an imported equivalent.

How do I clean the stone?

A dry microfibre cloth, working around the beads where dust collects in the joins. For marks use a barely damp cloth and dry it straight after — never anything acidic on natural alabaster. Buff the brass gently and leave the patina alone.
