Walk into the Astra Lumina lobby in Mumbai and look up. A huge flower of light seems to bloom out of the ceiling — broad crystal “petals” that flare wide, then sweep down into one long, glittering tail that pours into the air. That is the hotel lobby chandelier Mumbai project we built for Astra Lumina: one giant sculptural crystal installation, made and fitted in India.
Here’s the full story — the idea, the real photos, the sizes, and how we put it up.
Quick answer: The Astra Lumina project is a custom JagMag Lights hotel lobby chandelier Mumbai install — one large sculptural crystal piece set inside a round, double-height ceiling ring. Curved “sail” canopies of fine crystal strands flare out near the ceiling, then taper into a long central crystal cascade that drops into the lobby. Star-point lights sit behind it, so the whole thing sparkles like a night sky. Designed, made and installed in-house in India.

The moment you walk in
First impressions decide a lot in a hotel.
A guest steps in from a busy Mumbai road. Traffic, heat, noise — all of it behind them. In two seconds, their eyes go up.
And there it is.
A wide crystal canopy blooms out of a round ceiling opening, lit from within. It flares like the petals of a giant flower, then narrows into a long crystal tail that flows down into the open air of the lobby. Tiny star-lights twinkle behind the strands.
People stop. They smile. They reach for their phone. That is the job of a great hotel lobby chandelier — it makes the building feel special before anyone says a word.
The project at a glance
| Detail | What we did |
|---|---|
| Property | Astra Lumina, Mumbai |
| Project type | Hospitality lighting — double-height lobby |
| Main fixture | One large sculptural crystal installation |
| Shape | Sail-like crystal canopies flaring into a long central cascade |
| Setting | A round, recessed ceiling ring with star-point lights |
| Made | 100% in-house in India, start to finish |
The design idea: a crystal flower
The brief was simple. Fill the lobby’s tall, round ceiling void with one showstopper.
So we picked one idea and stuck to it: a flower opening up.
Look at it and you’ll see it. Wide curved canopies — like petals or sails — flare out near the top. Each one is a steel frame packed with thousands of fine clear crystal strands. They catch light and shimmer from every angle.
Then the petals draw inward and become one long, tapering tail of crystal that drops deep into the lobby. It feels like water pouring, or a flower stem reaching down.
Behind the strands, we hid tiny spot-lights in the ceiling. They peek through the crystal like stars. So the piece never looks flat — it glitters and shifts as you walk under it.
Getting the scale right in a tall, open space is the hard part. This two-story foyer guide from Seus Lighting and this guide to hotel lobby statement chandeliers explain the same rule we used: in a double-height space, let the fixture drop in layers and stop well above head height.

How we built it, step by step
A piece this big is mostly planning. Here’s the order we work in.
- Site study. We measure the lobby height and the round ceiling void, mark the fixing points, and check how daylight moves through the space.
- Design and mock-up. We draw the petal canopies and the central tail to scale, so the shape fits the ring perfectly and clears the floor below.
- In-house making. Our team builds the curved steel frames and strings the crystal in our own factory in India. No imports, no waiting on a supplier abroad.
- Safe fixing. Each canopy hangs from secure ceiling points, with hidden wiring and the bottom of the cascade kept well above head height.
- Final tuning. We set the star-point lights, level every strand, and clean each crystal before handover.

How big should a lobby chandelier be?
Here’s a simple way to think about it.
Width. Add the room’s length and width in feet. A 20 ft × 16 ft lobby gives you 36 — so a fixture around 36 inches wide suits a normal ceiling. In a grand, double-height lobby like Astra Lumina’s, you go much bigger, because a small light looks lost in all that space.
Height. For a tall fixture, allow about 2.5 to 3 inches of fixture height for every foot of ceiling. A two-storey lobby (16–20 ft) can carry a drop of 4 feet or more.
Clearance. Always leave at least 7 to 8 feet from the bottom of the chandelier to the floor, so it reads as grand — not in the way.
That’s exactly the rule we followed here: flare wide near the ceiling, taper the cascade, and stop it high above the lobby floor.
Why a hotel lobby chandelier Mumbai hotels trust is made in India
Here’s the thing. A hotel light is not a one-time buy. You live with it for years.
So the real question is: who fixes it five years later?
That’s where being a real manufacturer matters. We make every part ourselves, so we can make the exact same part again — even a decade on. Importers often can’t.
| What hotels care about | JagMag (Make-in-India maker) | Typical importer / stockist |
|---|---|---|
| Spare parts later | Available 10+ years — we still make it | Often gone once stock ends |
| Custom lead time | About 15–20 working days | Around 60–120 days |
| Fixing an issue | Our own team, often overnight | Wait on an overseas supplier |
| Re-order the same piece | Yes, any time | Hard once a design is dropped |
JagMag Lights is a government-recognised (DPIIT) and government-funded Make-in-India lighting manufacturer based in Greater Noida. We build for hotels, banquets and homes across the country — like our SKA Destiny One double-height lobby and our Grand Aura Hotel project in Jammu.
Want something like this?
You don’t need a hotel to get this look.
Love the flowing crystal? The Wave Chandelier with cascading glass leaves brings the same flow to a living or dining room. For a tall foyer, the Glass Feather hand-blown cascade drops beautifully. And for a stairwell, the Talar Murano staircase chandelier is a stunner.

FAQs
What is the Astra Lumina Mumbai chandelier made of?
Thousands of fine clear crystal strands stretched over curved steel “sail” frames, lit by hidden star-point spots. Every part is made in our own factory in India.
Can I get a similar hotel lobby chandelier in Mumbai for my own project?
Yes. We design, make and install custom fixtures anywhere in India, with a typical custom lead time of about 15–20 working days.
How high should a chandelier hang in a double-height lobby?
Let it drop in layers from near the upper floor and stop well above head height — usually about 7–8 feet clear of the floor below.
How big should a hotel lobby chandelier be?
Add the lobby’s length and width in feet for a rough width in inches, then go bigger for grand, double-height spaces so the piece doesn’t look lost.
Will spare parts be available years later?
Yes. Because we manufacture in-house, we can remake the exact same part even 10+ years on — something most importers can’t promise.
