Alabaster Wall Lamp – Cylinder Torch Wall Sconce, Brass Finish, 35 cm

A tall cylinder of real alabaster on a slim brass-finish torch: switch it on and the whole stone glows, with soft cloud-like veins showing through. This alabaster wall lamp stands 35.5 cm tall. The stone shade is 17.8 cm high and sits in a round brass-finish cup, held out from the wall on a short arm. Below it, a slender stem drops 14 cm and gives the light its torch shape, which is why it is called a torch wall sconce.

Real alabaster, cut and polished by hand

Alabaster is a soft, translucent stone formed in the earth over thousands of years. Light passes right through it, so when the lamp is on, every vein and cloud inside the stone shows.

In our Greater Noida factory, a craftsman cuts each cylinder from a single block, hollows it and polishes it smooth by hand. The veining follows the stone, so no two shades are ever the same. Some glow almost pure white; others carry warm honey lines that look like a map.

The arm, cup, stem and round wall plate are turned from 304-grade stainless steel and given a brushed brass finish. Steel this good never rusts, so the light keeps its finish for years. It reads as a brass cylinder sconce, with stainless steel underneath.

Where this torch wall sconce works best

• Beside the bed. A pair either side of the headboard gives a soft, warm light to read and wind down by. See our bedroom wall lights.

Fix it with the centre of the stone at about 165–175 cm from the floor, or at eye level beside a mirror. It suits modern, classic and warm-minimal rooms: grey or plaster walls, oak, linen and brass taps.

Light and fitting

It takes one E27 bulb. The bulb is not included; fit a 3000K warm-white E27 LED for the warmest glow through the stone. The light shines through the whole cylinder and out of its open top. It is not dimmable.

It is hard-wired to the wall and rated IP20, for dry indoor rooms. Any licensed electrician fits it in 20–30 minutes, and we help free on a video call.
