Cane Pendant Light – Mariella Handwoven Rattan Lotus Dome, 65 cm

Some lights sit above a table. This one opens over it. The Mariella is a cane pendant light shaped like a lotus in bloom: 65 cm across, with two tiers of handwoven petals around a single bulb. Switch it on and warm light falls through the open base onto your table, while the weave throws its pattern across the wall and ceiling.

It is big on purpose. One shade is enough for a dining table up to 180 cm long.

What is this lotus pendant light made of?

Cane belongs to the Fibre family in our work. It starts as rattan, a climbing palm that grows for years in the forest. The stem is cut and dried, and its outer skin is peeled into thin strips. That skin is the cane.

The cane is woven by hand into an open webbing, row by row. Each petal is cut from that webbing, curved, and finished with a bound edge. Then the petals are set by hand, one tier over the other, onto a matte black frame at the crown. Because a person places every petal, the spacing and the weave differ slightly on each piece.

This is real cane, not a print or a plastic weave made to look like it. Unlit, it reads pale honey and textured. Lit, light comes through every gap in the weave. The fibre turns golden, and the petals cast soft, overlapping shadows on the wall.

Where does a 65 cm cane pendant light work best?

Over a dining table is its natural home. It suits a rectangular table 120 cm or longer. Hang the bottom of the shade 75–90 cm above the tabletop. For a table 200 cm or longer, hang two, 70–80 cm apart.

Over a kitchen island, hang it 70–75 cm above the counter. Woven cane beside a stone counter adds a warmth that stone alone can’t give. In a living room, it anchors a seating area, or hangs low over a coffee table as a statement piece.

It needs open space: a room of 12 ft × 10 ft or more, and a ceiling of at least 9 ft. Skip it for ceilings under 8 ft and for very formal, classical European rooms. It sits well in Japandi, coastal, bohemian, wabi-sabi, tropical modern and natural contemporary homes. Pair it with a wood table, linen or cotton seating, terracotta or stone floors, and white or warm-grey walls.

Light, frame and cord: what you get

The ceiling canopy and the frame that holds the petals are 304-grade stainless steel in a matte black finish. Steel like this does not rust, and we give a lifetime warranty against rusting on orders from 4 October 2026 (Legal Policies 4.1A).

It hangs on a black cord with Teflon-coated copper wire. The drop adjusts up to 120 cm, so the light sits at most 159.5 cm below the ceiling. Your electrician sets the height during fitting. The canopy is 12 cm wide and 2.5 cm deep.

Inside is one E27 holder, up to 60 W. The bulb is not included. Fit a 6–9 W warm-white LED at 3000K. An LED stays cool, which is kind to natural fibre, and warm light brings out the honey tone of the cane. The light is not dimmable. It runs on 220–240V and is IP20, made for dry indoor rooms.
