Glass Pendant Light – Clear or Smoked Capsule, 40 cm, E27

Some evenings, the light itself sets the mood. This glass pendant light does it with one slim capsule of glass and a warm glow hanging inside.

It is a capsule of borosilicate glass, 13 cm wide and 40 cm tall, sealed at the bottom and held by a brass-finish cap and a slim loop. You choose the glass. Clear is glossy and see-through, so a slim tube bulb becomes the decoration. Gray is matte smoked borosilicate glass. It hides the bulb and turns it into a soft, glowing core.

What is borosilicate glass, and why does it glow like this?

Borosilicate glass begins as natural raw ingredients: silica sand, boric oxide, soda ash and alumina. Melted together, they make a glass that stays crystal-clear and pure.

Each shade is one seamless capsule. No joins, no seams. For the gray shade, smoke colour goes in while the glass is made. Then the surface is hand-finished to a soft matte face.

Switch it on and the two shades behave differently. Through clear glass, light passes clean, and the bulb draws a bright line down the middle. Through matte smoked glass, it softens into a warm, smoky glow with no glare.

Where does a glass pendant light work best?

Beside the bed, in place of a table lamp. The gray shade is calm enough to fall asleep under.

Over a dining table or kitchen island, hang two or three in a row, as in our photo. You get even light along the whole surface. Hang it 70–75 cm above a kitchen island, or 75–90 cm above a dining table.

Light and fitting

The cap, loop and holder sleeve are 304-grade stainless steel with a brass finish. The steel will not rust. That is a lifetime warranty against rusting on orders from 4 October 2026.

It takes one E27 bulb. The bulb is not included; fit a 4–6 W, 3000K warm-white LED, and stay under 10 W. A slim tube-shaped LED looks best in the clear shade.

The pendant hangs on 1.5 m of black wire as standard, shortened to your height at installation. It is not dimmable. It runs on 220–240V and is rated IP20, for indoor rooms.

The matte glass is easy to wipe and hides fingerprints better than polished glass, so it stays fresh for years.
