Overview
Some lights you notice. This one you want to touch. This terracotta lamp is a 35 cm dome pendant light of real fired clay, with a blue-green line painted around it by hand and a turned wood finial on top. Hang it over your kitchen island or dining table, and the room feels warmer before you switch it on.
What is a terracotta pendant light?
It is a hanging light with a shade of terracotta: clay taken from the earth, shaped, and fired until it turns this warm red-orange. Terracotta is the oldest ceramic there is. So this is a ceramic pendant light in its most earthy form.
The dome is 35 cm across and 18.5 cm tall, with a soft bell-shaped crown. A 5.5 cm wood finial sits above it. The surface stays rough and grainy, the way fired clay wants to be.
Clay from the earth, a line painted by hand
Terracotta belongs to the Earth family of our materials, beside clay and ceramic. You know it already: the matka in your grandmother’s kitchen, the diya at Diwali, the old tiled roof.
Our craftsman shapes the dome and fires it. He keeps the grainy texture instead of sanding it smooth. Then he paints one blue-green line around the shade by hand, and lets it break and fade in places. Fine flecks of the same colour drift across the crown. So no two lamps come out the same.
On top sits a turned wood finial with a glossy grain. A braided fabric cord in a rust-brown weave carries it down from the ceiling.
Switch it on and the dome sends a warm pool of light down onto the table. The inside glows a soft amber, and the clay’s texture catches the light at the rim. Switch it off, and it hangs there like a piece of rustic pottery.
Where does a terracotta lamp work best?
- Over a kitchen island. One dome for a short counter. Two or three in a row, 60–75 cm apart, for a long island.
- Above a dining table or breakfast nook. Centre one over a round or compact table, where your family sits down to eat.
- A living-room corner. Over a console, a reading chair or an open-plan zone, as a warm focal point.
- Earthy, warm rooms. Timber, stone, plaster, cane and relaxed neutrals. Farmhouse, Mediterranean, warm-minimal and lived-in modern homes.
Hang the base 75–85 cm above a dining table, or 75–90 cm above a worktop. It suits a standard 2.4 m ceiling or higher. Keep it away from direct sink spray.

Vastu
Vastu tradition links clay and terracotta with the earth element, which stands for grounding and stability. Earthy tones like terracotta are often suggested for dining rooms, with one deeper accent colour. This lamp brings both: fired clay and a hand-painted blue-green line.
Vastu writers place the dining room in the west or south of the home, with the kitchen in the south-east, the fire zone. They suggest warm light, around 3000K, centred over the table so the space feels welcoming, with no glare and no dark corners. A dome like this sends warm light down onto the table and keeps it out of your eyes.
Vastu is a tradition of arranging a home so it feels right. We take it as that.

FAQ
Is the terracotta real?
Yes. The dome is real terracotta, clay fired in a kiln, not a painted coating. The blue-green line is painted on by hand, so every lamp is a little different.
Is this a ceramic pendant light?
Yes. Terracotta is the oldest kind of ceramic: clay, shaped and fired. So this is a ceramic pendant light in its most earthy form, with the fired clay’s own warm colour left on show.
How big is it, and how high does it hang?
The shade is 35 cm across and 18.5 cm tall, with a 5.5 cm wood finial above it. It hangs on a 1.5 m braided fabric cord as standard, shortened at installation; hang the base 75–90 cm above your table or island.
Does it come with a bulb?
No. The bulb is not included. It takes one E27 bulb; fit a 3000K warm-white LED for the softest glow.
Is it dimmable?
No. This light is not dimmable. It gives a fixed warm 3000K light.
Can I use it in a bathroom or outdoors?
No. It is rated IP20 for indoor dry rooms, so use it in kitchens, dining rooms and living areas, not over a sink spray, in a wet zone or outdoors.
How do I clean it?
Dust it with a soft, dry cloth or brush. Keep water and liquid cleaners off the clay and the painted line.
How long does delivery take, and who fits it?
In stock, it ships within 4 working days; made to order takes 12–15 working days, and a custom size or colour 15–20 days. Any licensed electrician fits it in 20–30 minutes, with free video-call help from us, and shipping is free across India.
