Overview
A sculptural cocoon that glows like a paper lantern. This onion-dome pendant is built the classic mid-century way — a stretched cocoon membrane over a vertical metal rib frame — so the light diffuses through the skin in a soft, even glow with the ribs reading as fine shadow lines. The flared neck and wide, rounded body give it a retro-modern silhouette that works as a quiet sculpture by day and a warm focal point at night. The membrane is stretched over each rib by hand, so every cocoon pendant light has its own gentle character.
Where it fits
- Over a dining table or kitchen island — the 40 cm dome throws a soft, even glow and makes a gentle statement.
- Living rooms & bedrooms — a sculptural centrepiece with a calm, diffused light.
- Entryways & reading corners — a warm, welcoming accent.
- Mid-century, warm-modern, Japandi & coastal interiors — oak, linen, plaster, cane and warm neutrals.
Why you’ll love it
The cocoon skin does what glass and metal can’t — it softens a single bulb into a warm, glare-free glow that lights the whole shade evenly, while the ribbed frame gives it structure and a hand-made character. The onion-dome shape has real presence at 40 cm across but stays light and airy, so it suits a dining table, a seating group or a bedside. It takes a standard E27 bulb, so you choose your own warmth and brightness, and the cord adjusts to the right drop.
Light & material
The shade is a stretched cocoon membrane over a metal rib frame in a natural white that warms to a honey glow when lit. The light is ambient and atmospheric — soft, diffused and easy on the eye — rather than hard task light. It pairs naturally with oak, linen, plaster, cane and warm neutral palettes, and suits both period and modern rooms.

In Vaastu, soft, warm light and a rounded, dome-like form are associated with calm, harmony and energy that moves smoothly through a space, while a gentle glow over a gathering or rest area is traditionally seen as welcoming and soothing. These are design associations, not guaranteed outcomes.

FAQ
What is this cocoon pendant light made of?
It’s a stretched cocoon membrane over a 304-grade stainless steel rib frame — the classic mid-century cocoon technique. The skin diffuses the light for a warm, even, glare-free glow, with the ribs showing as soft shadow lines.
How big is it?
The shade is 40 cm (15.7 in) across and 30 cm (11.8 in) tall. The cord is adjustable and set at installation.
How many bulbs does it take, and is it included?
It takes one E27 bulb, which is not included so you can choose your own. We recommend a warm white E27 LED (3000K).
What size table or room suits it?
The 40 cm dome suits a 4–6 seat dining table or a kitchen island, and works as a soft focal point in a living room or bedroom. Hang the base about 75–85 cm above a tabletop.
Can I use it in a bathroom or outdoors?
No — it’s rated IP20 for indoor dry locations, and the cocoon shade must stay away from damp.
Is it suitable for projects or bulk orders?
Yes — its soft, sculptural look suits hospitality and project spaces. For bulk or project pricing and lead times, get in touch.
