Overview
A chandelier base plate in brushed gold metal — a round, cup-shaped 4-inch (10 cm) ceiling canopy with a central cable hole. It mounts at the ceiling to cover the junction box and give chandeliers, jhumars, pendant lights, and wall lights a clean, finished base where the wire exits. The warm gold finish pairs naturally with brass and antique gold fittings — browse the full Jagmag metal components range for matching parts. It works just as well as a light base plate for a single pendant or wall light.
Where it fits
- Custom chandelier builds — when you are assembling or adapting a fitting that needs its own ceiling rose, this plate gives it a finished, professional look without extra parts.
- Replacing a worn or mismatched canopy — swap out a cracked plastic or off-colour plate without replacing the whole light fixture.
- Renovation and new builds — fix it at rough-in stage so the outlet box is hidden from day one and the ceiling looks finished before the fixture even arrives.
- Gold and brass interiors — the brushed gold finish pairs with antique gold, warm brass, and champagne-finish fittings in living rooms, dining areas, and entrance halls.
Why you’ll use it every day
An exposed junction box and tangled wire exit make even an expensive chandelier look improvised. This plate threads over the cable or chain before you hang the fixture, then sits flush at the ceiling to hide everything in one move — no special tools, no second trip to the hardware store. Once in place, it becomes invisible in the right way: a neat gold disc that tells the eye the fixture was designed to be there, not just hung from whatever was already in the ceiling.
Light & finish
The base plate itself does not emit light. Unlit, the brushed gold surface adds a warm metallic accent at the ceiling junction — visible as a confident disc where the fixture meets the structure, rather than the usual plastic cover or bare junction box. Lit by the room’s ambient or downward light, it reflects warm tones and recedes gently so the chandelier or pendant below takes full attention. The finish pairs well with warm-white ceilings and interiors in cream, beige, warm ivory, or terracotta, and reads naturally against antique brass, champagne, and satin gold fittings.

In Vaastu, gold and warm metallic tones are traditionally associated with warmth and welcoming energy at the heart of the home. A round form — a circle with no sharp corners — is classically linked with continuity and smooth, uninterrupted energy flow through a space. Concealing exposed wiring behind a clean, circular plate is also in keeping with the Vaastu value of tidiness: a settled, uncluttered ceiling is generally considered to support a calm and ordered atmosphere in the room below.
Care
·Dust regularly with a soft, dry microfibre cloth.
·Spot-clean with a pH-neutral cleaner on a cloth — never spray directly.
·Wipe the stainless steel gently dry after cleaning. Avoid abrasives and harsh chemicals.
·Indoor use only unless an IP rating is specified.
·Switch off the circuit before any electrical maintenance.
·Check mounting hardware periodically and tighten if needed.
FAQ
What is a chandelier base plate used for?
It is a ceiling canopy that covers the junction box and finishes the point where the cable exits the ceiling for a chandelier, pendant, jhumar, or wall light — giving the fitting a neat, completed base. Many electricians simply call it a chandelier plate.
What size is this plate?
The plate is round and approximately 4 inches (about 10 cm) in diameter.
What material and finish does it have?
It is 304-grade stainless steel with a brushed gold finish on the visible face, so it never rusts.
Does it include wiring or a bulb holder?
No. It is a decorative mounting plate, sold as a single component. No wiring, bulb holder, or fasteners are included.
Which light fittings can I use it with?
It suits chandeliers, jhumars, pendant lights, and wall lights — any fitting that needs a ceiling rose or canopy to cover the junction box.
How do I fit it to the ceiling?
Thread the pendant cable or chain through the central hole before connecting the fixture to the ceiling. The plate then slides up to sit flush against the ceiling surface, hiding the junction box.
Can I use it as a ceiling light base plate?
Yes. It works as a ceiling light base plate for a chandelier, a pendant or a flush ceiling light. The 4-inch round of gold-finish 304 stainless steel covers the junction box neatly and never rusts. Many people call it a chandelier plate for ceiling points; it is the same part.
