Twig Chandelier – 5 ft Blackened Branch with Opal Glass Cups | Jagmag Lights

This twig chandelier is a 5 ft blackened metal branch — cast with real bark texture, forked and irregular — carrying 14 opal glass cups, each 100 mm across, along its length. Every cup sits on its own short stem and holds a G9 lamp, tilted at whatever angle the branch happens to give it. One foot deep, hung on adjustable rods.

Where it fits

At five feet long and only a foot deep, this is a linear fixture. It wants a long surface beneath it.

• Over a long dining table: Its natural home. A table for eight to ten, 180 to 240 cm long. Hang the branch 75 to 85 cm above the tabletop.
• Over a kitchen island: A run of island 200 cm or longer. The shallow depth keeps sightlines across the counter open.
• In a stairwell or a double-height hall: Hung lower than usual it reads as a horizontal line across a tall space.
• Over a bar or a reception desk: The scattered cups give a soft, uneven light that suits hospitality better than an even row.

Why you will use it every day

The branch is not decorative styling. It is the structure.

All 14 glass cups on this twig chandelier hang off real forks in the metal, so the spacing is uneven, the heights vary, and the angles are all slightly different. That is the entire point — a row of evenly spaced pendants reads as a product, and this reads as a found object. Cluster three at one end and leave a gap, and the eye follows it the way it follows a real branch.

The metal is finished dark and matt with visible bark texture, so it disappears against a dark ceiling and the lit cups appear to float. Photographed against a pale wall you see the whole silhouette instead. It works both ways, which is unusual.

The cups are opal glass, open at the bottom. They diffuse rather than expose the lamp, so at eye level across a table you see glowing white shapes and no filament — a real consideration on a fixture with this many lamps at seated eye height.

It takes 14 G9 lamps, 4 W minimum and 7 W maximum each. That ceiling matters: G9 sits inside a small enclosed cup, and overlamping is the usual cause of premature failure on fixtures like this. Stay between 4 W and 7 W and the whole fixture draws 56 W to 98 W.

We make this twig chandelier in our own Greater Noida factory and hold spare parts for 10 years and more. Individual glass cups can be reordered, which on a piece with this many separate shades is what keeps a single breakage from being a disaster.

Light & finish

The light is deliberately uneven. Because the cups sit at different heights and angles, the pool below is mottled rather than uniform — warmer under the clusters, softer in the gaps.

Fourteen opal cups at 4 to 7 W each give an ambient wash rather than task light. Over a dining table that is right; over a working kitchen island you will want downlights as well.

Use warm lamps at 2700K to 3000K. The opal glass reads faintly yellow when lit — you can see it in the photographs — and a cool lamp fights that and turns the cups grey.

Buy all the lamps at once and from the same batch. With 14 shades in one sightline, a single mismatched colour temperature is immediately obvious.
