One glass globe on your chandelier cracks while you clean it. The other five globes are fine. The frame is fine.
You call the shop. The shop says that model is gone, so buy a new light. The old light goes into a bag for the kabadiwala.
A whole light leaves your home over one broken globe. Lights like that pile up across India every year, and the e-waste management rules now count them.
Below, you will see what the rules say about lights. You will also get four checks that help you buy a light you can fix.
The short answer
A light you can repair stays out of the e-waste pile. India’s e-waste management rules now list lighting equipment among the items they cover. So before you buy, ask if the maker keeps spare parts. We keep ours for 10+ years.
What the e-waste management rules mean for your lights
E-waste is any electrical or electronic item that people throw away. Phones and fans are e-waste when they die. So is an old ceiling light.
India makes a lot of e-waste. A minister told the Rajya Sabha that India produced 1.751 million tonnes of e-waste in 2023-24.
The E-Waste (Management) Rules, 2022 came into force on 1 April 2023. The rules list 106 kinds of electrical goods. One line on the list reads “other lighting or equipment for the purpose of spreading or controlling light”. A chandelier fits that description.
The rules also make the company that sells the goods responsible for collecting and recycling them at the end. The law calls this extended producer responsibility, or EPR.
Recycling is only part of the answer. The United Nations Global E-waste Monitor 2024 looked at the whole world in 2022. Only 22.3% of that e-waste was recorded as collected and recycled.
The same report names limited repair options as one reason the pile keeps growing. When people cannot fix a thing, they throw it away.
Now think about your chandelier. A chandelier has many small parts: globes, arms, holders and the ceiling cup. When one part fails, most of the light is still good.
The frame still holds. The wiring still works. The other five globes still glow. Only one small piece is missing.
So the cleanest light is the one that never reaches the pile. A light with a spare globe, a spare arm and a spare holder can stay on your ceiling for many more years.
The question is how to spot a repairable light before you pay. Here are four simple checks.
How to check a light you can repair
- Ask the seller: “If one globe breaks, can I buy just that globe?”
- Ask how many years the maker keeps spare parts, and get the answer in writing.
- Look at how the light is built, because parts held by screws and rings can be swapped.
- Read the returns line on a listing, because a 7-day replacement is not a spare-parts promise.

Check four tells you why the returns window matters. Flipkart’s 7-day replacement covers an item that arrives damaged, defective or not as described. The cover lasts 7 days from delivery, and only one replacement is given.
A crack in the third year is a different problem. For that, you need a maker who still has the part.

| What you care about | JagMag | A marketplace light with no spares plan |
|---|---|---|
| One globe breaks | Order just that globe | Depends on the seller, so ask first |
| Spare parts | Kept for 10+ years | Not part of the 7-day replacement |
| Help after delivery | Broken part replaced or repaired, not the whole light | One replacement within 7 days |
| Frame metal | 304 stainless steel, lifetime rust warranty | Read the material line |
| Who made it | Our own factory in Greater Noida | Read the seller details |
Where the marketplace is better
A marketplace gives you a huge choice and fast delivery. Its 7-day replacement is quick and easy if the light arrives broken.
We cannot match that on custom work. Our made-to-order and custom pieces are final sale once production starts.
If you need a light by this weekend for a rented flat, the marketplace may suit you better.
So the marketplace wins the first week. A maker with spares wins the next ten years.
What we do at JagMag
JagMag Lights is a decorative lighting manufacturer in Greater Noida, making lights in our own factory since 2015. We keep chandelier spare parts for 10+ years. Our range has 33 in-stock parts: glass globes, stainless steel arms, base plates, holders and more.
Send us a photo of your light, and we will match the part by size and finish. You fix the light in an afternoon and keep it for years.
The spares come from the same factory that makes the lights. Our smoke glass globe is hand-blown, so a craftsman shapes each one with breath and heat, one globe at a time.

Our refund policy says we replace or repair the defective part only, wherever we can. You do not throw away a whole light for one piece.
Every metal part we make is 304-grade stainless steel, the same grade as a good kitchen sink. Our legal policies give it a lifetime warranty against rust, for orders from 4 October 2026. A frame that does not rust is a frame worth fixing.
We see repair as part of the harmony Vastu talks about. In that idea, a home keeps and cares for its things.

FAQs
What are the e-waste management rules in India?
The e-waste management rules in India are the E-Waste (Management) Rules, 2022, in force from 1 April 2023. They list 106 kinds of electrical goods and make the company that sells them responsible for collection and recycling.
Are lights covered under the e-waste rules?
Yes. The list includes “other lighting or equipment for the purpose of spreading or controlling light”, leaving out only filament bulbs. A chandelier, pendant or wall light counts.
What is e-waste?
E-waste is any electrical or electronic item that people throw away, along with its parts. A dead phone, an old fan and a broken light fitting are all e-waste.
Can a broken chandelier be repaired instead of replaced?
Yes, if the maker still has the part. We keep spare globes, arms, base plates and holders for 10+ years, so you can change one piece and keep the light.
Does JagMag sell chandelier spare parts on their own?
Yes. We sell 33 in-stock spare parts one by one, from glass globes to stainless steel arms. Send us a photo of your light, and we will match the part.
