Custom Made Lights: How We Make a Light for One Room

Round residential chandelier with metallic fins and crystal drops installed in a Delhi flat

In the last post we wrote about imperfect beauty, the natural marks that make each piece its own. We ended with homes that need a light no catalogue holds.

Today we show how we make that light. We call these custom made lights. Each one is made for one room and the people who live in it.

We follow one real piece from start to finish. The piece is a round chandelier we made for a family flat in Delhi.

Every custom light starts with your room

A custom light does not start with a design. A custom light starts with a room.

You do not need a drawing to begin. A photo, a sketch or a link is enough. You send it to us with the room size, the ceiling height and your city.

The Delhi family sent us their living and dining area. Their ceiling was about 9 to 10 feet high, with a false-ceiling border. They wanted one light to make the space feel finished.

They also had one worry. They did not want the ceiling to feel low.

So we fixed the size before we talked about style.

We fix the size before the style

Size decides whether a light belongs in a room. A light that is too small gets lost. A light that is too big crowds the people below it.

We check three numbers first. The first is the width of the light. The second is the drop, the distance the light hangs below the ceiling. The third is the height of the ceiling itself.

For the Delhi flat, a long hanging chandelier would not work. A tall crystal ball would not work either. The room needed a light that was wide, not deep.

We settled on a round piece about 3 feet across, roughly 90 cm. The chandelier hangs on a short drop, close to the ceiling. The room keeps its height. The light still reaches both the sofa and the dining table.

With the size fixed, we could start on the look.

The design takes shape on paper, then in our hands

Next we decide how the light will look. We keep what you love from your reference. We change what the room, the build or the fitting needs.

Then you choose the finish. Gold, black, chrome or another finish has to sit well with the rest of your room.

Before we cut anything, we plan the frame. We work out how the light will hang, how much it weighs and where each part sits. Every metal part is 304-grade stainless steel, a steel that does not rust.

Our Greater Noida factory starts work only after you approve the design.

For the Delhi chandelier, our craftsmen cut each steel fin to an arrow point. They finished every fin in champagne gold and set the fins close together around the ring. Below the fins they hung faceted crystal drops and slim blades in a chrome finish. They spaced the drops so each one catches light from every seat in the room.

Behind each fin is patient human effort, one cut at a time. Most custom lights are ready in 15–20 working days once the design is locked.

The finished light belongs to one room

Before the light leaves our factory, we check it up close. We look at the finish, the line of every part and the packing. A custom piece has no twin in our store, so it has to arrive whole.

Today the Delhi family switches the light on each evening. The gold fins glow around the ring. The crystal drops send small sparkles across the wallpaper. The light fills the room, and the ceiling still feels high.

We made that chandelier for one room in one flat. In another home, the same piece could look wrong. For us, a light that fits only its own room is the whole point of custom made lights.

Vastu thinking looks at a space as a whole: its size, its light and the people in it. A custom light starts from the same place. We take that as inspiration, not as a promise.

Custom work has been part of our story since 2019. In 2019 we began making lights for larger interiors and custom spaces. Each project taught us to start with the room.

The hands that shaped those fins carry a much older story. In the next post we look at India’s craft heritage and our place in it.
