Living Room Lamp – Travertine Table Lamp with Linen Cone Shade, 57 cm

A tall, tapered column of real travertine under a wide cone of beige linen. This living room lamp stands 57 cm tall, with a shade 42 cm across. It is a table lamp with presence: big enough to light a corner of the room, calm enough to sit beside any sofa.

Switch it on and the linen glows warm. Light falls in a wide circle over the table and down the stone, so the layers in the travertine show in soft relief.

Travertine and linen, shaped by hand

Travertine is stone that formed slowly from mineral-rich water, one thin layer over another, across thousands of years. Look closely at the base and you can see those layers running round it.

Our craftsman turns each base from a solid block of stone, tapering it to a rounded top, and hones it smooth by hand. He leaves the natural pits open instead of filling them, so every living room lamp carries its own pattern of stone. The solid stone makes it heavy and steady, about 9 kg.

The shade is linen, a natural plant fibre with a fine, textured weave, stretched over a wide cone frame. A small neck in matte black 304-grade stainless steel joins stone to shade.

Where this living room lamp works

• Beside the sofa. On a side table, it gives a warm reading light at shoulder height.
• Sideboard or console. At 57 cm, it holds its own on a long piece of furniture in a living or drawing room.
• Bedroom dresser or wide bedside. Its wide shade spreads soft light across the room.
• Hotel lobbies and reception desks. Solid stone and linen suit spaces that need a calm, welcoming light.

It suits boucle, linen and leather, walnut and oak, and cream or white walls. A pair either end of a long sideboard looks balanced and finished.

Light and fitting

This living room lamp takes one E27 bulb, up to 40W. The bulb is not included. Fit a 3000K warm-white E27 LED for the glow you see in the photos.

It is not dimmable. It gives one steady warm light, so choose your bulb for the mood you want. It plugs into a 220–240V wall socket on a 185 cm cord.

The metal neck is 304-grade stainless steel, so it will never rust. You get a lifetime warranty against rusting on the steel. Spare parts, including the linen shade, stay available for 10+ years.
