Overview
A slab of real alabaster, its edge left rough the way the stone broke, glowing warm on your wall. This unique wall light is 20 cm (7.9 in) across. No two look alike, because the outline follows the stone itself. A small dark cap sits at the centre, and the slab is held off the wall on a brass-finish backplate.
Switch it on and the light comes through the stone from behind. Thin and thick parts glow at different strengths, so every cloud and grey vein shows.
Alabaster, shaped by hand and left wild at the edge
Alabaster is a soft, translucent stone that formed beneath the earth over thousands of years. Light passes through it, which is why it glows instead of simply shining.
Our craftsman cuts each slab thin enough to let light through. Then he chips the edge by hand, following the stone’s natural breaks instead of a template. He polishes the face and leaves the rough rim untouched. That hand-chipped rim is what makes each one a unique wall light.
Switched off, it is a pale piece of stone with soft grey veins. Switched on, it turns warm and almost honey-coloured at its centre.
Where this unique wall light works
- Either side of a bathroom mirror. A matching pair frames the mirror in soft, even light for the morning and the evening.
- Beside the bed. At 20 cm across, it fits a narrow wall and gives a gentle glow to read by or wind down.
- Living room and hallway. One on a plain wall works like a small piece of art that lights up at night.
- Textured walls. On lime plaster, microcement or stone cladding, the raw edge looks at home.
Every slab is cut from a different part of the stone, so a pair will match in size and feel but never be exact twins. That is the point of real alabaster.
Built to stay
The backplate of this unique wall light is 304-grade stainless steel in a brass finish, so it will never rust. You get a lifetime warranty against rusting on the steel. If the stone is ever chipped, we can cut you a new slab: spare parts stay available for 10+ years.
This light is not dimmable. It runs on 220–240V mains and is wired into the wall. Any licensed electrician fits it in 20–30 minutes, and we give free video-call support while you install.
