Know your light

This outdoor wall lantern stands 28 cm tall and 13 cm wide, built from a sand-cast black metal frame with four clear glass panels and a single E27 light point. The tapered rectangular body gives any entrance, gate pillar or balcony wall a finished, architectural look — replacing a plain utility fitting with something that looks considered day and night.

Where it fits

  • Beside a front door or courtyard gate: the compact 28 cm height stays in scale with a standard door frame without dominating it.
  • On a covered balcony or veranda: IP44 protection handles the rain and humidity common on semi-exposed walls.
  • Against an exterior facade or boundary wall: a pair spaced 90–120 cm apart lights the approach evenly and gives the wall a symmetrical, designed finish.
  • At a patio corner or garden pillar: the warm amber glow makes evenings outside more usable and marks the edges of the space clearly.

Why you’ll use it every day

Coming home after dark, the warm glow marks the last few steps clearly — no fumbling for keys or misjudging the threshold. Guests walking up to the door have a clear landmark to head for. Left on through the evening, it signals an occupied, well-kept home from the street without the harshness of a floodlight. On a balcony you use at night, one low-glare lantern is enough to sit comfortably without the flat overhead look of a utility tube.

Light & finish

Unlit, the textured black metal has a sand-cast quality that reads as architectural rather than industrial — it works against white plaster, stone cladding and exposed brick alike. When lit, a filament-style bulb glows amber through the clear glass, throwing a warm directional pool downward onto the step and pathway below. The clear panels keep the bulb fully visible, so the quality of the bulb matters: a 2700 K warm-white LED gives the lantern the most character after dark, while a cooler bulb will read out of step with the dark frame. Browse our outdoor wall lights collection if you need a second unit or a coordinating style.

Vaastu & positive energy

In Vaastu, a steady light at the entrance is traditionally associated with a welcoming, positive threshold and is commonly considered auspicious after dark. Black metal is associated with groundedness and stability in Vaastu colour traditions, while clear glass keeps the energy open and unobstructed rather than filtered or diffused. A matched pair mounted symmetrically on either side of a doorway is traditionally preferred for balance and harmony, as symmetry is associated with a settled, stable household.

Common questions

What size is this outdoor wall lantern?

It stands 28 cm tall and 13 cm wide — compact enough to sit beside a standard single door without overwhelming the frame.

What type of bulb does it take?

It uses an E27 base, the standard large screw-fit found in most Indian hardware and electrical stores. No bulb is included with the fitting.

Is it safe to use outdoors?

Yes. The IP44 rating means it is protected against water splashing from any direction, making it suitable for covered porches, verandas, balconies and semi-exposed compound walls.

How high should I mount it?

Aim for 150–170 cm from the floor so the glow lands near eye level beside the door rather than above it, putting light on the threshold and the step below.

Can I install two as a matching pair?

Yes. A pair spaced 90–120 cm apart on either side of a wide entrance or gate looks balanced and gives even coverage across the approach.

How do I keep the glass clear over time?

On a covered wall, rain washes the surface naturally. In semi-exposed positions, simply wipe the glass panels with a damp cloth whenever hard-water spots build up.
