Overview
One cracked bar, and the whole jhumar looks tired. This crystal edge glass bar puts the sparkle back.
It is a long, flat bar in clear borosilicate glass, 255 mm long, 75 mm at its widest and 8 mm thick. One end comes to a sharp point. From there it tapers, slowly, to a slim rounded end. A fine crackle pattern runs across its whole face, like frost on a window.
It is a spare part, not a light: a box of 100 glass bars for the chandelier or jhumar you already love, or the one you are building.
Is the crystal edge glass bar real crystal?
No. It is clear borosilicate glass, and we say so plainly. “Crystal edge” is the name for how it looks: clear, bright and sharp at the tip.
Borosilicate glass begins as natural raw ingredients: silica sand, boric oxide, soda ash and alumina, melted together until they flow. Our glassworkers shape that hot glass into the tapered bar and press in the crackle texture by hand, in our own Greater Noida factory.
Nothing is added to colour it, so it stays crystal-clear. Borosilicate glass handles heat and sudden temperature change far better than ordinary glass. It keeps its clarity for years, even close to bright bulbs.
What does a crackle glass bar do to the light?
Light passes through the clear body clean, so the bar never tints your room. The crackle lines catch it on the way and break it into a fine web of sparkle.
Hang a ring of bars around a chandelier and each one glints a little differently. The bevelled edges shine brightest, so the whole outline of the fixture glows.
Where does a 255 mm glass bar fit?
At 255 mm, it is long enough to read as a spear or a ray. It suits tiered jhumars, sunburst chandeliers and any fixture that needs long, slim drops between rounder parts.
It works on chandeliers and jhumars, hanging lights, wall lights, table lamps and floor lamps. Fabricators use it for new builds. Restorers use it to replace a bar that cracked or went missing.
