Overview
One chipped wing can make a whole chandelier look tired. These glass bird wings for chandelier and jhumar work let you put it right, or build a new piece from the frame up.
Each wing is clear borosilicate glass, 220 × 80 mm, with fine ribs that sweep from tip to tip. Two soft folds at the centre give it the shape of a bird in flight. They come 100 to a box.
Clear borosilicate glass, shaped while hot
Borosilicate glass belongs to the Light family in our work. It is melted from natural raw ingredients: silica sand, boric oxide, soda ash and alumina. Nothing is added to colour these wings, so they stay crystal-clear.
Each wing is moulded while the glass is still hot, which presses in the ribs and folds the centre. Look closely and you may find a tiny bubble or a soft ripple at the edge. That is the mark of glass worked by hand, not a flaw.
Light does the rest. A bulb behind the wing runs along the ribs and breaks into thin, bright lines on the ceiling and walls. Unlit, the wings catch daylight the same way.
Where these glass bird wings fit
- Multi-arm chandeliers and jhumars: the wings slot into fan-arm and spray-arm frames and fill each tier with sparkle.
- Repairing a light you love: replace a chipped or missing wing when the original batch is no longer sold anywhere.
- Wall lights and hanging lights: a glass accent on tree-arm or batten-style frames where glass pieces are threaded or pinned.
- Table and floor lamps: lamp makers use them to add movement to statement shades and column lamps.
Mix them with other clear pieces from our chandelier parts range, like the glass maple leaf, for one even, crystal-clear look. Want colour too? Add the glass fish for chandelier in gold-lustre, blue or teal borosilicate glass between the clear wings.
Will these glass wings fit my chandelier?
Measure the slot width and the pin spacing on your frame. The wing is 80 mm at its widest point, which most standard Indian chandelier frames take without any change.
