Two years ago, you bought a gold chandelier online. The listing said “36-month warranty”. You felt safe.
Last week, you climbed a ladder to dust it. Near one screw, the gold paint had a small chip. Under the chip sat a brown spot.
You find the bill. You find the number. Then a harder question comes up: what did that warranty actually cover?
A chandelier warranty has two parts: how long it lasts, and what it covers. Below, you will see why the second part matters more, and how to read both before you buy.
The short answer
A chandelier warranty is only as good as what it covers in writing. Ask whether it covers rust on the metal frame, because rust is the slow problem in Indian homes. At JagMag Lights, every stainless steel part carries a lifetime warranty against rust, for orders from 4 October 2026.
What is really going on with a chandelier warranty
Many listings show a number of months. Few listings show what the months cover.
On Pepperfry’s chandelier page, we read the first 15 listings on 11 October 2026. Eight showed a warranty length. Seven showed no warranty line on the page. We opened one listing with a 36-month warranty, and the page gave no terms and no care advice.
The frame metal decides how much rust cover matters. Nine of those 15 listings named iron in the product name.
Iron and mild steel, plain steel often sold as “iron”, need paint or coating to stay rust-free. The paint is the only shield. Once the paint chips, damp air reaches the steel and rust starts.
Indian homes test that shield hard. Monsoon damp, kitchen steam and bathroom moisture all reach a light fitting. A small chip from a ladder or a cleaning cloth is enough to let damp air in.
Stainless steel works another way. The World Stainless association explains that stainless steel is a solid material, not a coating on ordinary steel. A chip in the finish still leaves stainless steel underneath.
So a long warranty on a painted iron frame and a rust warranty on a stainless frame are not the same promise. One may end when the months end. The other protects the part most likely to fail slowly.
How to check it yourself
- Find the warranty line on the listing or bill, and note the number of months.
- Ask which parts the warranty covers: frame, finish, glass, wiring or built-in LED.
- Ask in writing, “Does this warranty cover rust on the frame?”
- Read the material line, and look for iron, mild steel or stainless steel.
- Keep the invoice, and ask whom to contact for a claim.

Indian e-commerce rules from 2020 require online platforms to show warranty and guarantee details. If a listing shows only a number, ask the seller for the rest before you pay.
With those answers in hand, you can compare the two kinds of warranty side by side.
Side by side
| What you care about | JagMag | Typical marketplace listing |
|---|---|---|
| Rust on the metal frame | Covered for life on stainless parts | Not stated on the listing we opened |
| Warranty terms in writing | Yes, on our policy page | Often only a number of months |
| Frame metal | 304 stainless steel | Often iron |
| Built-in LED | 1 year | Varies by listing |
| Who fixes it | We made it, so we repair it | Seller or brand, if you can reach them |
Our warranty has limits too, and you should see them before you choose.
Where the other side is better
Some listings show a 36-month warranty. Three years is longer than our one-year cover on built-in LEDs. A general warranty may also cover parts our rust warranty does not.
Our rust warranty does not cover the surface finish, such as paint, plating or an antique look. The warranty also leaves out glass, stone, fabric, bulbs and electrical parts.
Iron chandeliers also often cost less, because mild steel costs less than other steels. If price matters most and the room stays dry, a painted iron light can serve you well.
What we do at JagMag
JagMag Lights is a decorative lighting maker in Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh, and has made lights in its own factory since 2015. Every metal part we make is 304 stainless steel, the same kind of steel as a good kitchen sink.
Because the steel itself resists rust, we can promise more. For orders from 4 October 2026, if a stainless part rusts in normal home use, we repair or replace the part free. You only need the original invoice. Read the exact words in our warranty policy, section 4.1A.
Lights with a built-in LED carry a separate one-year warranty on the LED module. To claim either warranty, email us the invoice and a photo or video of the fault.
Take our brass-finish stainless steel chandelier with opal globes. The frame is 304 stainless steel with a brass finish, and the country of origin reads India. Our team shapes and finishes each frame in our own Greater Noida factory.

A clean, steady light keeps a room feeling calm and cared for, the kind of harmony Vastu has always valued.
We also keep chandelier spare parts for 10+ years, so a broken glass globe does not end the light’s life. Browse every metal chandelier we make.

FAQs
Does a chandelier warranty cover rust?
A chandelier warranty covers rust only if the terms say so in writing. At JagMag Lights, stainless steel parts carry a lifetime warranty against rust for orders from 4 October 2026.
What does the JagMag rust warranty not cover?
The JagMag rust warranty does not cover the surface finish, such as paint or plating. The warranty also leaves out glass, stone, fabric, bulbs, electrical parts, misuse and chemical cleaners.
How do I claim a warranty on a chandelier?
Keep the original invoice, then send it with photos or a video of the fault. For JagMag lights, email jagmaglights@gmail.com or info@jagmaglights.com.
Is a 3-year warranty better than a lifetime rust warranty?
A 3-year warranty is better only if it covers the part that fails. On a painted iron frame, rust can start whenever the paint chips, even after the warranty ends. Ask what each warranty covers.
Do online sellers in India have to show the warranty?
Yes, online platforms in India must show warranty and guarantee details under the 2020 e-commerce rules. If you see only a number, ask the seller for the full terms.
Nature gives the material. Human hands give it meaning. Light brings it to life.
