Know your light

This sculptural alabaster pendant light stacks five hand-cut stone vessels into a 65 cm column, hung from a slim brass rod. Each piece swells and narrows, so the silhouette reads as a carved totem rather than a lampshade. Lit, the stone glows from the inside and the joins show as soft rings of light.

Where it fits

A sculptural alabaster pendant light is a vertical object. Give it height to work with.

  • In a stairwell or double-height void: The 65 cm column reads properly when you can see it from more than one level.
  • Beside a bed or a reading chair: Dropped low in a corner it becomes the piece the room is arranged around.
  • Over a console or entry table: Hung against a plain wall it does the job a tall sculpture would.
  • Above a round dining table: A single one centred low suits a 4 to 6 seater better than a wide fixture.

Why you will use it every day

Five pieces of stone, and the shape is doing all the work.

Each vessel in this sculptural alabaster pendant light is turned separately, so the profile swells and pinches five times down its length. That is what makes the silhouette hold your eye — a straight cylinder of the same size would read as a tube.

Hand-cut from natural alabaster — which means no two are alike. The veins run differently. The colour shifts. The edges darken where the stone is denser. Light it up and you get a glow that belongs to your piece and nothing else. One block of stone. One light. Never repeated.

The joins are the detail worth noticing. Where two vessels meet, the stone is thinnest, so light escapes as a bright ring. Unlit you see five separate forms; lit you see them stitched together by light.

The LED is integrated at 3000K, so there is no bulb behind the stone and nothing to replace. We make it in our own Greater Noida factory and hold spare parts for 10+ years, which on a hand-cut stone piece is the difference between a repair and a write-off.

Light & finish

Switched on, the whole column lights up rather than just the bottom. Because the stone is thin at each waist, the light concentrates there and spreads out through the fuller parts.

The glow is soft and low-contrast — this is not a fixture for lighting a work surface. It gives a room presence and a warm anchor point, and it photographs beautifully against plaster or panelled walls.

Unlit, it is white stone. The alabaster is pale and cloudy rather than heavily veined, so it reads as sculpture against a dark wall and almost disappears against a light one.

Vaastu & positive energy

Natural stone is a grounding material, and alabaster is among the calmest of them.

A sculptural alabaster pendant light brings that quality into a stairwell or entry — the parts of a home that set the tone as you move through them. Warm 3000K light is generally preferred there over cool white, which reads as clinical.

The form has no sharp edges anywhere. It is a stack of rounded vessels, and rounded overhead shapes are the ones Vaastu tends to favour, particularly where people pass beneath them.

Common questions

How tall is the sculptural alabaster pendant light?

The stone column is 65 cm tall and 15 cm wide, and the brass rod adds to that. Tell us your ceiling height when you order and we set the drop so it hangs where you want it.

Does it need a bulb?

No. The LED is integrated at 3000K warm white, sealed inside the column. You never see a lamp through the stone, and there is nothing to replace.

Will every sculptural alabaster pendant light look the same?

No. Each of the five vessels is cut from natural stone, so the cloudiness and tone differ from piece to piece. Two of these hung side by side will be recognisably siblings, not copies.

Is it bright enough to light a room?

It is an ambient fixture, not a task light. It gives a room a warm anchor and looks striking doing it, but plan on downlights or lamps if you need working light in the same space.

Can I hang two or three together?

Yes, and it works well in a stairwell at staggered heights. Each sculptural alabaster pendant light is bought individually, so order the quantity you need.

Can I get it in a different size or finish?

Yes. We manufacture in-house, so the number of vessels, the overall height and the metal finish can all change. Custom runs take 15-20 days against 60-120 days for an imported equivalent.

How do I clean the stone?

Dry microfibre cloth, paying attention to the waists where dust settles. For marks use a barely damp cloth and dry it straight after — never anything acidic on natural alabaster. Planning it for a stairwell? Send us the ceiling height and we will work out the drop.
