Borosilicate Glass Ball – 5 Inch Gold Spiked Globe Chandelier Component

One cracked globe can make a whole chandelier look tired. This gold glass ball puts it right. It is a 5 inch (about 12.7 cm) globe in gold-lustre borosilicate glass, with deep dimples all over its surface.

Look closely and each dimple draws to a point inside the ball, like a soft spike. Switch it on and those points catch the light and scatter it in warm, honey-gold pools. It is a spare part, not a full light. It brings a chandelier, jhumar or pendant cluster back to life, and the fitting stays as it is.

Gold-lustre borosilicate glass, shaped by hand

Borosilicate glass begins as natural raw ingredients: silica sand, boric oxide, soda ash and alumina. Melted together, they make glass that is crystal-clear and pure. It handles heat far better than ordinary glass.

For this ball, a gold lustre is added while the glass is made. Then the dimples are pushed in while the glass is still hot and soft. Because hands shape every ball, the dimples sit a little differently on each one. No two are exactly the same.

Unlit, the ball reads as warm, translucent honey-amber glass. Lit with a warm 3000K LED, it deepens into a rich amber glow. The dimples break the light into gentle, overlapping pools across your ceiling and walls, instead of one harsh beam.

Where a 5 inch gold glass ball fits

• Multi-arm chandeliers and jhumars. Where several globes hang close together, the 5 inch size sits neatly between the arms without crowding them.
• Pendant clusters. Replace one cracked or dated globe without rewiring the fitting.
• Wall brackets and sconces. Give a bare bulb a warm, softer glow.
• A whole set. Order the count your fixture needs, so every arm glows the same gold.

It looks right with antique brass and antique gold finishes and with walnut wood. Use a warm 3000K LED. Cold-white or daylight bulbs turn the amber glass a pale, washed-out yellow.

Why borosilicate glass lasts on a light

Ordinary decorative glass can crack or turn yellow after years of bulb heat. Borosilicate glass is heat-resistant, so it sits close to the bulb without that stress-cracking or yellowing. Your gold globe keeps its colour and shine.

And when one ball does break, you change one ball. Not the whole chandelier.

Fitting your new glass ball

This ball is glass only. It has no holder, wiring or bulb of its own. It has a short fitter neck that slips over a standard lamp-holder neck, so no rewiring is needed.
