Hotel Lighting Suppliers: Maker in India vs Importer

Hotel lighting suppliers compared: import crates waiting in a port warehouse beside a maker's bench building a crystal chandelier

The hotel opens in three months. The lobby ceiling is ready. The banquet hall has its hooks in place. Only one big order is left: the lights.

One supplier shows a glossy catalogue of imported chandeliers. Another supplier invites you to a factory and asks for your ceiling drawing.

Both quote a price. Only one can promise a date, a matching second piece and a spare crystal ten years from now.

Hotel lighting suppliers come in two kinds: makers and importers. Below, you will see how they differ, and how to check which one you are talking to.

The short answer

For a hotel, choose a lighting supplier who makes the lights in India, in a factory you can visit. A maker can size each piece to your ceiling, match it again for the next floor and keep spare parts for years. At JagMag Lights, custom hotel chandeliers are ready in 15 to 20 working days.

What is really going on with hotel lighting suppliers

A home buys one chandelier. A hotel buys forty lights that must look like one family. The lobby piece, the banquet pieces and the corridor lights must match in colour and finish.

An importer sells what a far factory has already designed. The importer can pick from a catalogue, but cannot change the frame. A custom size means a new order abroad and a long wait.

Stoch Hotel Consulting, a hotel advisory firm, puts custom decorative lighting at about 17 weeks to make. Shipping and customs come on top of those weeks.

A maker works from your drawing. The maker cuts the frame to your ceiling, keeps the drawing on file and can build the same light again next year.

Hotels also grow in steps. An owner may open one wing now and another wing two years later. The new wing must look like the old one. A maker can build from the same drawing. An importer can only hope the design is still in the catalogue.

A hotel also lives hard. Cleaners dust the crystals again and again. Ladders knock arms. A maker with spare parts can send the part from stock. An importer must ask the far factory for the part.

How to check it yourself

  1. Ask the supplier, “Did you make this light, or did you buy it?”
  2. Visit the factory, or ask for a video call from the workshop floor.
  3. Ask for a drawing made for your ceiling, with height and width marked.
  4. Ask in writing which spare parts are kept, and for how many years.
  5. Ask whether a reorder next year will match the first batch.

With those five answers, you can put the two kinds of supplier side by side.

The table leans our way. Still, imports win on a few points, and you should know them.

Where the import supplier is better

Import showrooms carry famous European and Italian brand names. If your design brief names one of those brands, an import is the way to get it.

An import showroom also lets you see the finished piece before you buy. Spacio Collections in Mumbai, for example, offers showroom consultations, measurements and installation for imported lights.

A big import brand may also offer a wider range of ready designs than any one maker.

What we do at JagMag

JagMag Lights is a decorative lighting maker in Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh, making lights in our own factory since 2015. We build hotel chandeliers from your drawing.

First, we settle four things with you: the size, the design, the finish and the frame. Only then does work start on our factory floor. Every arm is cut and shaped there, and every crystal string is hung by hand.

At Sarovar Portico in Dehradun, we made four matching crystal chandeliers, one for each bay of the main hall. Our own team climbed the scaffolding and hung every crystal strand by hand. See the Sarovar Portico hotel chandelier project.

At Rajmahal Luminescence in Jaipur, the lobby needed one long chandelier of about 18 feet. We shaped the chandelier to follow the long ceiling, and our own team fitted it. Read the Jaipur hotel lobby chandelier story.

Our frames are 304 stainless steel, the same kind of steel as a good kitchen sink. For orders from 4 October 2026, stainless parts carry a lifetime warranty against rust, as our warranty policy explains.

For a tall lobby or staircase, see our long raindrop crystal chandelier, made in sizes up to 16 feet tall. For anything else, our custom chandelier team starts from your drawing.

We keep chandelier spare parts for 10+ years, so a broken crystal is a small fix. We are CE, UL and ZED certified, and a DPIIT-recognised startup. See our certifications.

Warm light in a lobby makes guests feel welcome the moment they walk in, the kind of harmony Vastu has always valued.
