Quick answer

This banquet chandelier Kolkata project at Grand Howrah Banquets is the story of two custom crystal showpieces JagMag Lights designed, made in India, and installed on site: a sweeping 18-foot ribbon of clear crystal rods that spirals through the lobby’s double-height ceiling void, and a tall cylindrical crystal “fountain” that wraps a central pillar in thousands of sparkling strands. Both were built in-house, sized to the room, and fitted by our own team — so the venue feels grand the second guests walk in.

On this page:

Picture it. The big day. Cars pull up outside the hall in Howrah. Guests step in, look up… and stop.

Above them, a river of crystal seems to float in the air. It twists and turns like a ribbon caught mid-dance. Light bounces off every rod and scatters across the ceiling like stars.

That “wow” moment is exactly what a great banquet chandelier Kolkata venues dream of. And that’s what we set out to build for Grand Howrah Banquets.

Here’s the thing. A banquet hall isn’t a living room. The ceilings are huge. The space is open. A small fixture just disappears up there. You need something with real scale — a showpiece that becomes the photo everyone takes.

Let me walk you through how we did it.

Why this banquet hall needed two showpieces

Most halls put up one big chandelier and call it done. We looked at the space and saw two very different jobs.

Job one was the entrance void — that tall, round, open ceiling near the doors. It begged for drama. A flat, round chandelier would have looked tiny and lost in all that height.

Job two was the central pillar. Big halls almost always have one. Left bare, it’s just a column. Dress it in crystal and it becomes a second focal point — a fountain of light right in the middle of the room.

So we designed two fixtures that talk to each other. Same crystal. Same warm glow. Two totally different shapes. Together they pull your eye across the whole space — and that’s the secret to a banquet chandelier Kolkata guests actually remember.

The two custom crystal fixtures we made

1. The 18-foot flowing ribbon.

This is the star. Hundreds of slim clear crystal rods, hung at careful lengths, form a long wave that spirals through the ceiling opening. From below it looks like fabric frozen mid-flight.

It’s not a “buy off the shelf” piece. Every rod sits at its own height. We mapped the curve, built the frame, and strung it by hand so the flow looks natural, not stiff.

2. The crystal pillar fountain.

The second fixture is a tall cylinder of dense crystal strands that hugs the central column. Thousands of small crystals cascade down in a soft bell shape, set inside a layered oval ceiling with hidden cove light behind it.

Walk around it and it shimmers from every angle. It turns a plain structural pillar into the heart of the room.

Want this kind of flowing, cascading look in your own project? Our Wave cascading-glass chandelier and the taller Glass Feather cascade follow the same idea at a home scale. For a stairwell or tall void, the Talar Murano column is a lovely ready-made option.

No stock photos here. These are real shots from the Grand Howrah Banquets site — our team mid-install, on the scaffolding, up in the void.

How we built and fitted it (5 steps)

People always ask how a banquet chandelier Kolkata install this big actually goes up. Here’s the short version.

Step 1 — Measure the space. We mapped the ceiling void, the pillar, and the heights. Scale is everything in a banquet hall. Too small and it vanishes.

Step 2 — Design the two fixtures. We drew the ribbon’s curve and the pillar’s cascade, then matched the crystal and the warm LED so both pieces feel like one family.

Step 3 — Make it in our workshop. The frames, the crystal cuts, the wiring — all built in-house in India. Nothing imported and waited on for months.

Step 4 — Install on site. Our team built the frame up in the void, then hung each crystal by hand to get that flowing shape right.

Step 5 — Tune the light. We dialled in a soft golden glow and checked it from every seat in the room, so guest photos look beautiful, not blown-out.

Manufacturer vs importer — why it matters for a banquet

Now you might be thinking: does it really matter who makes it? For a one-night home buy, maybe not. For a banquet hall you’ll run for years — it matters a lot.

That last row is the big one. A banquet runs events back to back. If a strand snaps the day before a wedding, you can’t wait three weeks for a part from abroad. Because we make every piece here, we can cut a matching crystal and send help quickly.

JagMag is a 100% Make-in-India chandelier manufacturer — a government-recognised (DPIIT) and government-funded startup. We don’t just sell lights; we build them, and we stand behind them for the long run.

FAQs about a banquet chandelier in Kolkata

How big should a banquet chandelier be?
Go big. For a tall, open hall, a fixture 4 to 6 feet wide (or a long flowing piece like this one) reads well from across the room. As a rough rule, allow about 2.5–3 inches of chandelier height for every foot of ceiling height.

How much does a custom banquet chandelier in Kolkata cost?
It depends on size, crystal, and design. A showpiece like the Grand Howrah ribbon is a custom build, so we quote after seeing your space. Tell us your ceiling height and budget and we’ll suggest options at different price points.

How long does it take to make and install?
As an Indian manufacturer, our custom lead time is about 15–20 working days — far faster than the 60–120 days typical of imported pieces. Install is handled by our own team.

Is crystal safe and easy to maintain in a busy hall?
Yes. We use sturdy faceted crystal on a steel frame. A gentle dusting every few months keeps it sparkling, and because we made it, replacement crystals are always available.

Do you only work in Kolkata?
No. We design, make, and install banquet and hotel chandeliers across India. Kolkata is just one of many cities we’ve delivered in.
