The evening this Delhi flat changed
Here’s the thing about most Delhi flats.
The living and dining area is the heart of the home. Guests sit there. Diwali card parties happen there. But the lighting? Usually one plain tubelight or a few downlighters.
The owners of this flat wanted one beautiful piece that would make the space feel designed — without making the ceiling feel low. Their ceiling, like most Delhi flats, sits around 9 to 10 feet with a false-ceiling border.
So a long hanging chandelier was out. A big crystal ball was out.
What they needed was wide, not deep. Round, not heavy. Sparkly, but modern.
The design: gold fins and crystal arrows
Look closely at the photos and you’ll see two layers doing two jobs.
Layer 1 — the golden fins. Around the outer ring sit closely packed steel fins in a champagne-gold mirror finish, each one cut to an arrow point. In daylight they look like a crisp metal crown. At night the LED light bounces between them and the whole ring glows.
Layer 2 — the crystal arrows. Below the fins hang clear faceted crystal drops mixed with chrome blades. Crystal does what crystal always does — it splits the light into tiny sparkles (think of sunlight hitting a glass of water).
Gold for warmth. Crystal for sparkle. Chrome for a modern edge.
And because the whole fixture is only about 3 feet wide and hangs on a short drop, it fills the room visually without eating the headroom. That is the trick for flats.

How we built it in 5 steps
- Measure the room. We checked the ceiling height, the fan position and where the sofa and dining table sit, so the chandelier lands where people actually gather.
- Lock the size. Room length + width pointed to roughly a 3-foot piece — big enough to be the hero, small enough to keep headroom.
- Cut and finish the fins. Each steel fin was cut to an arrow point and finished in champagne gold in our own workshop.
- String the crystal. Faceted crystal drops and chrome blades were fixed below the fin ring, spaced so they catch light from every seat.
- Install and tune. Our own team mounted it on a short drop and set a soft LED glow for evenings. No third-party contractor, no waiting.
