Overview
Tier upon tier of curled glass petals in deep amethyst, hanging from a gold ring frame. This vintage chandelier is 100 cm (39.4 in) across and 70 cm (27.6 in) tall, and it carries 18 lights inside.
Switch it on and the petals glow plum and wine, lit from within. Unlit, the glass shows soft purple tones and a fine bubbled texture, like fabric caught in light.
Glass petals, shaped by hand
Every petal is borosilicate glass, coloured amethyst while the glass is made, so the colour runs all the way through and never fades or peels. While the glass is still soft, our craftsman curls the lower edge outward, so each petal flares like a flower.
He then hangs the petals one by one on the gold rings, overlapping them in rings that grow smaller as they go down. That layered, flowing shape is the classic petal style of the 1960s and 70s, which is why it reads as a vintage chandelier in any room.
The frame, spokes, chain and canopy are 304-grade stainless steel in a gold finish, with a lifetime rust warranty.
Where this vintage chandelier works
- Dining rooms. Over a round or oval table for six to ten, as in the photo below.
- Double-height living rooms and halls. At 100 cm across, it fills a large space with colour.
- Hotel lobbies, restaurants and lounges. A purple chandelier that guests remember.
- Grand bedrooms and dressing rooms. Where the ceiling is high enough to let it hang.
It pairs well with cream panelled walls, marble, velvet and boucle, gold mirrors and herringbone floors.
The body is 100 cm across and 70 cm tall, and it hangs on a gold chain that your electrician sets to your ceiling. It suits rooms of about 15 × 15 ft and larger, with a ceiling of 10 ft or more. Over a dining table, hang the bottom 75–90 cm above the tabletop.
Light and fitting
This vintage chandelier has 18 E14 holders. Bulbs are not included; fit 3000K warm white LEDs of about 4–6 W each, roughly 72–108 W in all. Warm white brings out the plum and wine tones in the glass. The light is not dimmable. It runs on 220–240V and is made for indoor rooms (IP20).
Clean the petals with a soft, dry cloth. Spare parts, including single glass petals, stay available for 10+ years, so one broken petal never means a new light.
